Rogan for Target's Go International

Posted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 02:39PM

I have been having a little Go International fatigue from Target. I mean a lot of the collections are exciting but the last few have to been ho hum to say the least.  However, on May 18th the newest installment of Go International is coming out and boy am I excited.

Rogan will be debuting their collection at Target stores this coming Sunday and by the looks of this short video it is going to sell out fast.  I know I will be scratching at the door Sunday morning because I have to score those leopard print shorts.  What do you all think, are you excited about the new line?

Watch the video on Target’s site>>

Organic Gardening for Newbies

Posted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 05:48AM
Organic Gardening for Newbies Whether you’re spending too much at the pump, getting too few nutrients in your diet, or spending too little time outdoors, there’s never been a better time to wade into the waters of organic gardening. Homegrown vegetables can taste better than almost anything you pick up at the local grocery, and the little fresh air and free time it costs to tend a small garden won’t take away from the savings you’ll find over a season of growing vegetables. Better still, you may even find it fun and relaxing, like most home gardeners do. StraightLine’s Organic Gardening for Newbies list can get you started.

Aside from the always-entertaining high school drama, the best thing about CW’s Gossip Girl is the fashion. If you are just dying to know where to get Blair’s argyle sweater or who designed Serena’s gorgeous leather jacket, then you need to tune in to ThisNext.

BlackBerry Bold

Even the most vocal CrackBerry critics will have a hard time denying the beauty of BlackBerry Bold, a sleek and refined gadget that will win over a few new supporters while supplying longtime adherents with nearly everything they could ever hope for in a smartphone. Elements of style aside, the device comes equipped with a 624-MHz processor and 1GB of storage space, in addition to a microSD/SDHC memory card slot. You’ll need it, as you toggle between a 2MP video camera, GPS functionality, WiFi, and the QWERTY-keyboard email/web browsing features that have always drawn users.

So What - I Like Pickles

Posted Monday, May 12, 2008 at 12:28PM
This recommendation may be the most useful recommendation I’ve seen in awhile (maybe it’s a close second to Fashion Kitty’s find depending on where your priorities lie). I hate when I reach in the pickle jar for that last pickle and my fingers end up smelling like pickles for the rest of the day. Just because I like pickles doesn’t mean the whole world needs to be able to smell it on me. Whatever your “pickle” may be - this handy dandy little jar/tong invention will solve the problem!

Wild Glass Art

Wild Art Glass

An often-overlooked medium of artistic expression, glass is rarely utilized in interior design for more than the occasional vase or out-facing window. But, as Soupnazi, a self-described “glass junkie” knows, rendering glass is actually an art form all its own that can produce fantastic contemporary design. Check out her Wild Art Glass list for a crash course.

Sally Hansen Color Quick Nail Pen Red

Sally Hansen Color Quick Nail Pen Red

I saw this little nail pen at CVS this weekend while I was picking up a few things for a friend. It was on sale so I decided to pick one up, unfortunately the only color left was red (I wanted to blue) but whatever, red nails are fine.

A little back story on my nail painting skills, I suck! Yeah, I suck really bad at painting my nails. It usually ends in my whole entire hand being covered in polish and/or multiple blips and chips in my nails. It’s pretty ugly.

So as I was sitting here making this recommendation I was able to paint my nails with this handy pen. My nails are flawless, yes flawless … no chips or anything.

It does need a few more coats than what it says on the bottle, I recommend almost 3 coats. I totally plan on buying a few more because it’s so easy to throw them in your bag and hook up your nails on a whim

Most expensive art piece sold for a living artist

Posted Friday, May 9, 2008 at 05:09PM
Sotheby's NY to offer Jeff Koons'

Just because it’s the most expensive piece of art ever sold by a living artist - at 23.6 million, yup you heard it..

It’s hard to believe that a gigantic heart made of steel would sell for 23.6 million. My first question is: Who can afford that? Second: Where would you put it? Don’t get me wrong I actually like some of Jeff Koons’ artwork, but not so much on the gigantic heart. Well, what can I say… go Jeff go.

Lions and tigers and ... elephants? Oh My!

With all these neat elephant items (ranging from cute to ummm…I didn’t even know things like that existed) you should be able to satisfy that craving for those wrinkly giants with trunks.

SpringDesign Contest Winner

Posted Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 11:38AM
barocco.jpg Our SpringDesign contest wrapped up this week. Thanks to all who submitted so much awesome design, whether it be fashion, furniture, garden gear, or office supplies. Difficult as it was to face, there did, of course, have to be one winner. Randomly chose, this Maisons du Monde Barocco headboard, chosen by shirleytemple, emerged as the winner. This bold, ornate headboard offers a seductive reminder that serious bedroom design transcends seasonal trends.

As announced earlier, the winner will receive two Philippe Starck-designed Toy Armchairs, one Plant Frame, and one Eva Solo Bird Feeder.

Great recommendation shirleytemple, and congratulations!

Political Product Wars

Posted Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 11:05AM

I won’t say who we are voting for …. but I will say that the political products on ThisNext are going head-to-head.  From Obama chocolates to Hillary nut crackers, the ThisNext community is nuts (hahaa) about political products.

For the Obama fans (see all 53 items tagged “Obama”) …

For the Clinton lovers …

Oh yeah, sorry McCain … the ThisNext community really doesn’t have anything for you except for this lousy tee-shirt.

Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition
In my last post about GTA IV, the battle between the previous winner, Halo 3, and the  latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series was ramping up to be a massive clash of the video game titans.

Well, the results of the first week are in, and with every one in multiple industries looking, it looks like GTA 4 has hit it out of the park.

From Next-Gen
According to publisher Take-Two, Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately six million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. The game sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day with a retail value of approximately $310 million globally.

It’s also made massive sales figures in Australia and the UK

The article from Next-Gen continues to say:
Grand Theft Auto IV’s first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date.

Patricia Field for Diet Coke

Posted Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:51AM

A mircale happened yesteday … I went all day yesterday without caffeine, which for me was pretty impressive. Now I am suddenly having a craving for Diet Coke, not because I miss it (I don’t) it’s because this bottle is freaking fly!

Patricia Field has designed these sweet limited edition bottles for Diet Coke.

Patricia Field explains: “The ‘diet Coke’ City Collection captures today’s modern women, confidant, glamorous, sexy and more in charge of their own lives, and represents the areas of life that are most important to them such as: ‘career’, ‘passion’, ‘love’ and ‘fashion’. In addition the designs represent ‘diet Coke’ as a sexy, sassy brand perfectly compatible with today’s woman.

The gold bottle represents ‘Career’, the red bottle ‘Passion’, the pink bottle ‘Love’, and the turquoise bottle ‘Fashion’.
