a bright idea

CompactFluorescentLighbulb.jpgHow many ThisNexters does it take to change the world?

One. You.

Reducing your carbon footprint doesn’t necessarily mean you have to give up toilet paper. Even little things you do can have a profound impact on the world at large. Take, for example, something as simple as a lightbulb. Next time one of your bulbs blows out, think twice before replacing it with another incandescent. Instead, try compact fluorescent bulbs.

With a lifespan of 10,000 hours, you are reducing waste (i.e., fewer dead bulbs in landfills); but also, compact fluorescents are extremely energy-efficient, using 2/3 less energy than their incandescent counterparts. The net effect is fewer greenhouse gases in the air, and more green in your pocket.
