Introduced at the recently concluded Frankfurt Auto Show, The BMW X6 Concept CUV is partly based on the X5 design, and it’s being dubbed “a sedan with off-road capabilities.” While BMW is calling it a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). Even though it’s just a concept, you might see one down the street sooner than you thought, that’s because the X6 is on a fast track to production and rumour has it that, it could actually be available mid-next year. Compared to other vehicles in its class, the X6 is sleek and attractive, but cargo space and room in the backseat is compromised.

I have unconfirmed report that the X6 will have a Hybrid sibling, and according to CoolHunting, the Hybrid X6 will feature a two mode hybrid gasoline-electric engine developed with the help of GM and DaimlerChrysler. The engine increases miles per gallon by about 20%, and like many other hybrid vehicles, the X6 will operate using electric or gasoline depending on speed and other factors like the car generating energy from braking. Also another interesting feature new to BWM, is a panel that conceals the exhaust pipe, when the car is operating on electric mode.
