Damn good soundtrack
Posted Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 06:26PMAs an insomniac teenager, I used to always play the soundtrack to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks to help me get to sleep at night. Nearly every song on the album has this near-hypnotic quality that’s perfect for lulling you into slumber - which is probably why ThisNexter owless encourages us to “put it on and drift away.” Of course, most of the tracks - especially those sung by chanteuse Julee Cruise - also give off a very creepy vibe, so you might end up with some very bizarro dreams, possibly involving a backwards-talking little man who sure likes to dance.
And the soundtrack sounds great when you’re awake, too: I was once particularly fond of listening to “Audrey’s Dance” and wishing I were Sherilyn Fenn’s character, with her perfect saddle shoes and skills at sneaking cigarettes in the school hallway before the bell rang for class. She’s still the coolest.
