Eco-chic and Stylish
Posted Friday, January 19, 2007 at 10:32PMGone are the days of re-cycled and eco friendly products lacking in style. The trend towards these sort of products is running at one hell of a pace.
I have a special interest in these products as I am about to launch a range of eco-chic furniture and accessories – watch this space.
Here are six eco-friendly products from six stylish companies whose websites are well worth a visit.

Maria Blunden produces a delicious range of bags and cushions/pillows all made from vintage fabrics.
Pinstripe Bag - Suitcase London
I first came across Pinstripe London on a visit to the capital, there shop was full of innovative fashion remade from mens suits. The truly inspirational thing about these designs is that they re-use the parts of the suit such as sleeves and pockets and make them a feature.
Cartapesta Roses - Luisa Cotardo
Using an ancient method called Cartapesta to make these beautiful flowers Luisa Cotardo has brought back to life a skill that was used that was originally developed for creating church statuary and architectural detail.
Organic Culinary Herb Wreath - Viva Terra
This is a tasteful wreath in every respect, its spray of fragrant culinary herbs that can be clipped off for use at will.
Cups & Saucers - Made From Old Tins
These amazing artifacts are by Harriete Estel Berman. Pre-printed steel from recycled tin containers, sterling silver and brass handles, gold rivets. Each teacup has a magnet inside so they can be rearranged. Each cup is unique.
This chandelier is made from old Bic pens. Now how novel is that? It looks every bit as good as it’s crystal counterparts.
As Linda Loudermilk says - Bamboo pointelles and soya blends go into clothes that honor nature in ethos, and then they go back into the earth. And there’s no need to sacrifice style, because if nature doesn’t make apologies, then neither should the people who fortify, fear and believe in it.
