F.A.D. Lives for Trend Forecasts
Posted Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 12:52PMAnd while we’re more about personal style than personally styling to whatever Vogue decrees haute and hot -
So do we.
So Fashion Addict Diary lays the low down on fashion bible WWD’s top trends for double-oh-seven, and we listen.
Sharpen your digi pencils, ladies; let’s take notes.
Ready?
OK, go, F.A.D.:
“From today’s WWD:
» “The minidress is the new jean.” (and we love that)
So does your K, and so does Eye 4 Style, though she thinks this “super mod” tie neck deep front dress at ASOS is “super short! The less daring can try it with leggings for fall.”
» “The T-shirt dress is huge for sportswear.” (hmm ok)
What about a dress styled from a T-shirt, hmm? Like this Fjord: McQueen dress? “I really like the tiger,” says Princess. “I think this would be a cute shirt.”
» “The wide leg will be more important than narrow ever was.” (no kidding)
No kidding, indeed, doll. Check these Alvin Valley “Palazzo” pants, ‘cause “there is a new trend emerging from the depths of the designer section. There, wedged between the skinny black pants and the ultra skinny jeans,” says Stiletto Jungle. “The biggest names in fashion are going— Gasp— ultra wide leg! Alvin Valley, one of the absolute best labels for fabulous fitting pants, has turned out a pair of flattering Palazzo Pants that are to die for. The combination of the slim waistband and single inverted pleat that starts a little lower on the thigh creates a super modern look that emphasizes a slim waist while minimizing the hips and thighs.”
» “There’s a big resurgence in vests.” (it has been since last year, yes?)
Yes, yes it has been. Why -
“My latest obsession is Asian designers and my newest find is South Korea’s Raveur label,” says Stiletto Jungle. “Talk about hot. These clothes are gorgeous. The are ladylike, without being stiff, and have this season’s trends down pat… even from halfway around the world!”
We’re chatting about vests, doll, So -
“One of my faves is this RAVEUR knitted vest and muffler set. It is a super thin knit that is perfect for layering,” says Stiletto Jungle. “Pulled on over a loose turtleneck, as shown here, it has a boho-luxe look that is chic and trendy.”
» “It’s all about color.” (right on)
You’re feeling left out if you’re not on top of brights like plurples, like these Roger Vivier purple patent leather pumps, though Hope Robertson digs them because they’re “straight from the creator of the original stilletto heel. Three and a half inches of haute high heels to pump you up.”
» “The biggest resurgence in the business is the woven top. The T-shirt has gone the way of the jean. It’s the sexy top, and prints are huge.” (anyone want my old t-shirt stock?)
Not unless it’s beaded, chiffon, and really a dress.
But merci beacoup anyway, love.
