Faux Trophy Still Going Strong?

Posted Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 08:27AM

In October, I wrote about the overwhelming and sort of fabulous trend of Faux Trophy, or reconstructed/modern mounted deer heads that are literally everywhere in the interior design scene.

Almost four months later (just about the life span of an uber-trendy trend) home/design blog Shelterric wonders if the deer head and antler craze is really over at all?

“Although I read on Domino’s blog that antlers were OVER, but I’m still a fan of these alpine-inspired critters and am not about to cast aside the ones I’ve collected. In fact, two of my favorite pressies this holiday season were dear deer…”

Over on ThisNext, we’re still seeing shopcasting of the antler kind, and I tend to side with Shelterrific (and even Domino is hesitant to let go)…If deer bring joy, and replace the taxidermy, than why stop a good thing?

UPDATE: Trophys and Antlers must be on everyone’s minds this week, check out design*sponge for House & Garden’s post about the popular animal plaques that sold out this Christmas and are back with even groovier colors (and animals!)

This is spooky. I was going to do my Guest Blogger post this week on just this subject as I have seen so many of these at This Next. I decided to do cakes instead. Is it that great minds think alike Aunt Beep?
