Gift Guide: Beautylicious

Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 09:47AM

When you went to go see The Devil Wears Prada, she was the only person in the theater who laughed with - and not at - the editorialites making fun of Andrea for not knowing what a Shu Uemura eyelash curler was.

In fact, she turned her flawlessly groomed face and whispered to you, “Could you imagine?”

Totally beautylicious.

So much so, that an e.l.f. “WIN ABC Color Therapy” kit might not cut it.

Instead, think of gifting your fav beauty whore Tinte’s cosmetics kit, or Jouer All About Eyes limited-edition kit. “I’m a big fan of Jouer and its unique customizable palettes which allows you to connect individual containers together side-by-side and back-to-back,” says the Style Page. “Now Jouer has expanded into powder eyeshadow duos. This limited edition kit features eyeshadow duos in creme, bordeaux, chocolate, and green; eyebrow gel, and mascara.”

For a little stocking stuffer, check Bobbi Brown “Shimmer Brick & Lip” kit. “I am all about consolidation! This compact does the job,” says Mugirl. “Lips and all over color in once kit… Fabulous -”

Just like this “Dallas” palette by Benefit, which will give you a “Peach perfect glow!” says Kimberley.

If somehow your dolled-up doll is missing a set of makeup brushes, hook her up with Makeup Creations by Yvonne Ouellette professional makeup brushes, Squirrel makeup brush sets, or Sephora two-tone portfolio brush set. ” All the brushes you need,” says Mighty Marce, “in one convenient and cost-effective package,” and a chic case.

And if she’s a skin freak - SPF 45 everday since I was 15, hello - or always jetsetting, she’ll dig Dr. Hauschka Skin Care daily body care kit at Sephora. “I’m all about little mini kits, since I’ve been on the road so much lately,” says WNH. “Love this essential collection of sophisticated spa scents.”

She might also love spa-at-home Boots Retail International - 5-day introductory kit total body cleanse. “If you can get your hands on this, do!” says JSung. “The detox drink is delicious and i noticed that my skin got better after using the kit.”

Want to be your lady’s sugar momma? Invest in the luxe Somme Institute “Mobile” kit, which is “not for the shallow pockets, but it will deliver,” says Robert Scott. Also, consider a cheeky-chic’ly packaged, limited-edition Christian Dior Dior Beauty Confidential powder and lipgloss, that’s “some serious luxe,” says Beauty Steals.

And if your beauty addict’s all about shampoo commercial-worthy hair, gift her a Ojon 5-Piece “Try Me” hair ritual kit, which is supposedly “AMAZING!”

Oh?

“Made my hair so soft and silky, and it smells great!” says Geisha with a Gun.

Ooh la love.

Hi Kristopher,

Thanks for noting my shopcast on Jouer All About Eyes limited edition kit.

I also like Wet'n'Wild Ultimate Expressions Eyeshadow Palette -- Let It Snow - eight pretty shades in a clear plastic package, which also features a good-sized pop-out mirror. At $5.99, this is a steal! There's a good review at MakeupAlley, http://www.makeupalley.com/product/userreviews.asp?ID=380738&brandname=&brand=448&CategoryID=102.

I also like Besame's Luxurious Trio Set - see http://www.thisnext.com/item/B09C16B4/CB0074AE/Besame-Luxurious-Trio-Set in Warm Hues. This set features lipstick in Chocolate Kiss, creme rouge in Sunkissed, and translucent powder. The lipstick has a semi-matte finish and is not all that brown. On my lips, at least, it looks like my natural lip color, only deeper and more polished.
