Gift Guide: The Luxist

Posted Monday, November 13, 2006 at 09:31AM

Your friend’s not a snob.

They just have better taste than you, and everyone else.

Their closet reads like a Barney’s catalogue, their wardrobe and toilette are as well edited as Vogue

Total luxist.

You might indulge your luxist by gifting her a Birkin bag, which is “all about timeless form and function,” says Joyce de Brevannes.

But she already has one.

Or two.

Or three.

But a Cartier alligator handbag?  It could be her most fav pet yet.

Maybe your lady prefers panthers, perhaps a zoo of golden Cartier Panthere watches. “I adore ever piece in this collection. The panther is such a powerful and beautiful creature and Cartier captures this through expert design and workmanship,” says Rebecca Matchett. “This is definitely my dream jewelry collection.”

Ooh la love, and sometimes I think mine is Tiffany & Co. Frank Gehry Designs, though I’m hardly a fan of Franky’s blobitecture.

“Almost architectural but pure sleek and tough, the bangle is an instant classic. I love jewelery with a strong look,” says Dava Guthmiller “This rest of Frank Gehry’s line is gourgous as well. The two fish necklace and the three fish ring are also favorites.”

I also dig Tiffany, just Tiffany, and her timeless Tiffany & Co. flexible band ring, stackable Tiffany Celebration rings,  and cheeky-chic “Buy/Sell/Hold” dice. “This is something that was missing from my stock portfolio management strategy. Tiffany’s sterling silver half inch dice, engraved with the words BUY, SELL and HOLD on each of the sides,” says oO. “Perfect for these insecure moments, or if you want to be more Las Vegas than Wall Street. Individual Investment results may vary, but like all Tiffany’s gifts, it comes with the signature blue box.”

Ooh la love.  Brush it off as a Magic 8 Ball for yuppies, but who do you trust more for investment advice: that guy at WaMu trying to pimp you a mutual fund, or a luxury company that knows how to hustle?

Think about it, and if you make the right answer and your cash flow turns into a river,  consider spoiling your lady or boy with buckets of perfume, or the always coveted .

Too obvious? If luxury vibes much more private for you, consider a quiet Roberto Coin 18k white gold small diamond circle pendant, which is made speical with “a ruby on the back that, according to legend, worn next to your skin, promotes health and longevity,” says Devin Alexander. “And then the front of his pieces are just gorgeous.”

And for more casual luxe for your fav doll? Check this cashmere hoodie. “Talk about every day decadence!” says Fasshonaburu. “Cashmere hoodie for lounging about, running errands, etc. Perfect to make your day just a little more bearable. Get it at Patagonia for $220.”

Yes, ma’am.
