Holiday Chic: After 9 to 5 Party

Posted Friday, December 1, 2006 at 07:15PM

After hustling 9 to 5, click clacking your French-tipped digits, arranging six-digit deals, you’ve got to hustle home to dress for your office holiday party. Open your closet: should you dress up your LBD you’re already rocking? Or maybe slip on your fav power suit…. Perhaps, maybe -

“HOW PERFECT IS THIS DRESS!!” asks Princess.

Very, exclamation mark, exclamation mark.

Equal parts boss and lady, this David Meister plaid dress lays a royally purple foundation for your after 9 to 5 party.

Next, slip on some solid tights, ease into some practical (they’re warm, slimming) chic  (they’re chic). “I buy Wolford tights,” says Di Overton.

Oh? I’ve heard ooh la lovely things about them.

“They last forever.”

Like that.

“Wolford do the most amazing patterns and there is much more to see on their website. Shipping worldwide,” says Di Overton.

Thanks for the tip, love.

Now for your outfit’s sole mates. You could really get away with almost any dark pump, or even ankle booties, like these Twenty Two Shoes “Siena” boots (thanks for the tip, minirobot). I dig Delman Roxanne mary-jane shoes, but while they’re “an alluring, sophisticated take on the shoes every girl wore to Sunday school,” as describes Saltimbanca, the Sunday school part is exactly why I hesitate to pimp them for your after 9 to 5 party. Instead, let’s try seriously glam, like these richy rich, crushed velvet House of Dereon “Hepburn” pumps. “Looking for a diva-licious take on the fur trim pump trend?” asks Stiletto Jungle

Always, doll.

“How about these super stylish “Hepburn” Pumps from Beyonce’s House of Dereon label,” says Stiletto Jungle. “They feature faux fur trim, rhinestone details, and a wickedly sculptural heel worthy of the songstress herself.”

Totally.  And I’m still checking that fur trim; B and K love animals more than PETA.

Rich details like that play perfect against the serious plaid of your dress, the same way this purple satin bow tie clutch by Chinese Laundry would. “The smooth satin makes this accessory perfect for night time outings,” says She Finds. “Wear your fave LBD if you want to keep the look simple or pair with purple’s complimentary color, yellow, to spice things up.”

Ooh la love, fab idea, I’ll feed that to my Treo, store it for future holiday chic blueprints.

Let’s get back to our present.

We’ll keep jewelry to a minimum - personally, I never really like to bother with baubles, besides a bling “K,” and professionally, too much jewelry can be distracting. Keep it to a single statement piece, and one that whispers more than shouts will vibe better with your plaid and rhinestoned wedges.  Check this black pearl tambourine ring by Patricia Madeja. “Anyone wondering what to get me for Christmas?” asks Laura Sweet.

Desperately and constantly, doll.

“Wonder no more. I love this ring, as well as her abacus ring. This woman makes some very nice and unique pieces of jewelry,” says Laura Sweet.
