Holiday Party Outfit, Part Une

Posted Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 12:24PM

One part vamp, two parts lady, shake and not stir. Garnish with a slice of executive.

Tis the season for holiday office party chic.

Start with a little black dress, which is this year’s -

Little black dress.

I dig  Dolce & Gabbana embellished silk dress - its tailored structure is boss lady, but its corset-like top plays friendly.

“I am in love with this season’s Dolce & Gabbana’s dress collection,” says Grenade Fishing. “The details on this dress are so fabo. They’ve managed to pull off the corsette look without the lingerie effect, which scores big points in my book. This dress is definitely for the hot parties.”

Ooh la love, yes. Here’s to hustling a raise.

In heel height.

Bruno Frisoni’s patent platform sandal vibes the same as the D&G dress: its black is classically serious, and tones down a glossy patent leather and a pin-thin five-inch heel.

If five-inch platforms are a touch much at your office party, check these Bronx black pumps, which are a twist on the traditional d’Orsay, and give you “vintage styling and just the right amount of heel,” describes Saltimbanca.

Your legs get extra mileage - and I’ll pretend at practicality for chillier months - via black Wolford polar tights.  “Super comfortable and ultra warm, Wolford’s Polar tights are a must-have for pairing with skirts and dresses in the colder months,” says Haute Girl. “Consider these tights a luxe alternative to thermals - they just as warm, but they’re also super sleek and fabulously stylish,” just like this -

Rebecca Taylor white coat. I’m a person for the ethical treatment animals, I believe unflattering fleece is never suitable for human creatures and always prefer a much warmer, luxer vintage mink-y mink, but even if you don’t want to do fur, burn the fleece and go for tailored warmth. This Rebecca Taylor coat’s bone beige will rock right against all your black, and its flowing form is simply “beautiful,” says WNH.  “The layers are gorgeous and that ultra feminine color and cut is the perfect antidote to all the black military styles from this and last year.”

For jewelry, go girl without being girly, feminine without being feline. Blooming twister flower earrings form Iluren.com vibe like the Rebecca Taylor coat, like the rest of your outfit: equal parts fresh and femme.  “Very elegant and contemporary,” says John_and_Rose. “Modern sterling silver earrings embodying Scandinavian aesthetics.”

I’ll leave your face up to you, doll, but I think a berry lip would look lovely against your blacks and white. A matte red lip is hard to rock right, instead try a raspberry gloss. Makeup Minute is all about “Tarte’s double ended lipgloss in Jake & Samantha (formerly Carrie and Big). The colors are dark raspberry and pale cotton candy pink. Two colors that happen to look smashingly.”
