It's A Major Award! (or why you should buy funny Christmas Story tschotkes)

As outlined previously in my Classic Christmas Movies gif guide (and blog post), A Christmas Story is seriously one of the funniest and heart-warming holiday movies. There are just so many classic scenes filled with timeless scenarios we all have experienced in one way or another throughout the years.
Perhaps one of the most famous Christmas Story scenes is when the Dad receives a free gift in the mail, which he decides must clearly be a major award. What he receives, is a large, gaudy, totally inappropriate lamp in the shape of a woman’s leg with fishnet stockings.
Imagine my delight then, when I cam across TaterAndTot’s and Jody’s shopcast of said infamous Leg Lamp. Yes, you too can have a giant leg lamp delivered right to your door. And I think it’s hysterical.
A little digging around, and I discovered an entire website dedicated to all things Christmas Story…and leg lamps: RedRiderLegLamps.com.
In it, you will find such delightful treasures as these, a Leg Lamp String of lights. For those of you not willing to commit to the full size FRA-GI-LE leg lamp, this sting of mini leg lamp lights is a great alternative. In fact, it’s hysterical. In fact, if you’re having a holiday party you must find a dark corner somewhere to hang these up.
As one who has unfortunately had her mouth washed out with soap more than a few times, the “FUUUU#$@$&!!!!!!” scene is especially dear. I love a good tongue and cheek joke (excuse the pun) and so, in the bathroom this holiday season will go a big red bar of Life Buoy Soap. The soap is imported from England, and - according to the website - “is sure to clean even the dirtiest mouth.”
And have you ever read the book? Yep - there were first stories by Jean Shepherd about growing up in Indiana during the Depression.
So, not to be a complete Christmas Story uber fan, but I have to admit some of the recent tschotkes created and inspired by the film are charming enough to make it (some how) into my holiday decor. And something tells me I’m not the only one.
