Label Loving
Posted Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 09:51AMI’m more about investing in personal style - or call my collection of beaded cocktail dresses, skyscraper heels, and strings of faux pearls a uniform - versus buying up whatever Vogue decrees is in.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t dig a Birkin bag, Gucci’s latest little gold dress, or other designer (un)duds.
Sometimes it’s all about a label, about tastefully conspicuous consumption that whispers “money” instead of shouting numbers. “This Fendi logo scarf by Italian fashion powerhouse Fendi is the subtly luxurious fall accessory every woman needs in her wardrobe. The black and gray design is chic and the Fendi logo is noticeable,” says Stiletto Jungle, “but not so ‘in your face’ as to be obnoxious.”
And other times you just “LOVE this bag,” says Mu Girl about a Fendi canvas and metallic large B bag. “Period.”
Got it, comma, doll, period.
That’s how I felt when I saw these Christian Louboutin feathered pumps. More than just their feather tickling me, I loved that the Loubies look like Loubies - that red sole calls to you, right? - , sans obviousness, unlike Monsieur Louboutin’s platform peeptoes every It girl is rocking.
This Louis Vuitton Monogram Groom Porte Monnaie Rond has the same vibe: it’s trademark Louis, all monogrammed out, but capped by fresh design. “It’s adorable!” says Invade My Closet. “I think it might come home with me very very very soon!”
It would be comfy in your Louis Vuitton Epi Soft Speedy 30, another Louis fresher than the typical LV stamped baguette. “I own Louis Vuitton Epi handbags,” says Invade My Closet, “and this Speedy is a hands-down classic! Goes perfect with almost anything in your wardrobe!”
I bet, and Lux Lotus is matching my bet: ” Meow: I’d be the cat that got the cream with this gem on my arm.”
And for more literal Louis gems, check these Louis Vuitton mono hoop earrings. “These earrings are fun and very unique for Louis Vuitton,” says Alanna Bess.
Bellas Jewelry Box is with you: “‘Cause you love Louis, but are over staring at speedy/pochette/baguette/Fouis Vuittons.”
Which can include perfect perfumes, like Chanel’s No. 5. If you’re ready to branch out, gift yourself this Chanel fragrance wardrobe 2006 set. “This set contains five of Chanel’s best loved scents,” says Stiletto Jungle, “all of which are timeless and well-loved, in a gift box with a subtle black-on-black CHANEL emblem. Chic. Stylish. Posh. Need I say more?”
That covers it, love.
And if you want to drop just a twenty for authentic designer, Marc-y Marc Jacobs is feeling charitable. Reports the Shop Hound: “Marc Jacobs’ latest $20 charity T-shirt is a collaboration with Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington and hair guru Didier Malige’s new book The Catwalk Cats. Four pastel colored tees each depict different illustrations from the book inspired by Coddington and Malige’s menagerie. Proceeds will benefit City Critters, a Manhattan cat rescue and adoption organization. “
Meow.
