This Knives will surely handle well…yep! They feature bicycle handles, that way you can get a better grip while cutting up your fillet minyon, broccolie, or even yourself. (that is if you suck at cooking/cutting). They are available in red, blue and green to either match your kitchen or cutlery set. I believe in the saying ‘you get what you pay for,’ so the knives are a little pricey starting at £73. Approx $ 149.00

Reviving the Dead: Iomega Zip Drive Desk Clock

Posted Monday, July 30, 2007 at 06:15PM

iomega%20silver%20zip%20drive%20clock

Do you remember all those pleasant moments with your zip drive? Of course you don’t. In comparison to other storage devices, including the floppy disk, external zip drives were an absolute fart in the wind. In their heydey, zip disks retailed at about $30 each with external drives at three times that price and the entire set-up gave you at tops, 250 MB of storage. At the time, it was exactly the same storage as a Gmail account.

My favorite feature of the zip disk was how on a weekly basis I could sneeze and corrupt all of my files. A few ill-fated institutions including my college, managed to install zip drives into every computer lab rather than installing burners, while simultaneously blocking access to external FTP sites. (Only to replace the drives with burners two years later.) Meanwhile, during those 2 dark years, students shelled out small portions of their federal loan loot (usually reserved for beer) to ensure they could work on their files both at home and in the lab. It was all such a despicable and unnecessary money grab and years later it still manages to grind my gears.

Enter the Zip Immortalized:
I would love to throw one of these dinosaurs into a tar pit; however, as a more eco-friendly solution, the aptly named New Jersey Etsy Seller “Geek Gear” recently launched a line of desk clocks made from recycled Iomega zip drives. Sleek in their silver obsoletion, the clocks retail at $30 - a steal at one fifth of their original price.

Sigg Water Bottles: Healthy, Customizable & Cool

Posted Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:54AM

Sigg%2033ounce%20Curves%20Lifestyle%20Water%20Bottle.JPGsigg%20bottle.jpg

I’m tired, sweaty and the Euro-trance e-tard I just flipped off is now sitting at a dead halt next to me while I pretend not to notice. I’ve forgotten to charge my iPod so I listen to the din of late nineties progressive house as it wafts from my road nemesis’ stereo. A year ago I would’ve reached under my seat to quench my thirst with the last dregs of an old plastic water bottle. Today, I am enlightened.

With the growing trend towards removing petroleum from our cars, our baby toys and of course our breast implants, why would we keep it in our drinking water? Sigg’s metal bottles  are re-useable, customizable and cool. They’re a healthier alternative to plastic bottles, they don’t leach chemicals and they’re available in tons of different styles and colors. For an extra dollar you can even swap out the original screw top for a flip or sport top.

As you sit there in traffic dreaming of a pure island kingdom, refresh yourself in style and smile sweetly as your road opponent’s epicly latered hairstyle sags in the sweltering heat.

Other non-toxic water bottles include Kleen Kanteen’s silver bullet canister  and Green Feet’s screw-top version.

A Bridge Made of Paper?

              paperBridge2.jpg

Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, unveiled a paper bridge on Friday over the Gardon River south of France. He is know for his unique use of eco-friendly and lightweight materials in various projects. The bridge is strong enough to carry 20 people at a time ‘excluding me.’ It’s built half a mile from the Pont du Gard; a section considered a UN World Heritage site. The bridge opens to the public Tomorrow, and will then be dismantled six weeks later before the rainy season begins. [I guess people will swim across the river until the rainy season is over].

The bridge which is a cardboard structure is made from: 281 cardboard tubes, each is 11.5cm across and 11.9mm thick, the steps are made of recycled paper and plastics, while the foundations is wooden boxes packed with sand.

Who's Jack Colton?

Posted Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 05:36PM

jack_colton.pngJack Colton

Described by MSNBC as “a local Vegas hero who reveals the secrets of Sin City nightlife on his web site to everyday players,”  dubbed the “Robin Leach of the MySpace generation” by Strip magazine, and having Robin Leach himself “very impressed,” Jack Colton is the jack with the dot-com you hit when you want to know how to get VIP in Vegas.

We played Q&A with Jack to find out what you need for a weekend getaway in Vegas that’s less you watching Celine Dion singing and more you playing at pool parties with topless chicks.

JC:
Just launched two new channels about Vegas nightlife! The first one is called “Vegas Stories,” which is a funny series of user-submitted encounters of when things totally went wrong, went way too well, or landed someone in jail. The second is being produced by Adult Film Star Demi Marx, and gives Vegas visitors the complete low down on the sex industry of our city (ranging from how to ‘hook up’ at a bar to what exactly those strippers on the porno cards passed out on the street will actually do for you). Both will be fully online within the week.

Wooden PC Tablet

Posted Friday, July 27, 2007 at 10:49AM

wooden%20laptop.jpg

Wooden PCs have always existed, from custom made to the popular brands. Designer Simon Enever has designed the S-series notebook, although it’s just a concept, it might be a preview of what to expect in future. The S-series is a tablet PC powered by Windows Vista, with a ultra-thin 4mm thick, and 17” wide LCD screen.

The PC is sleek and unique, but a tablet PC made of wood can be challenging, especially because it would require a lot of cooling to prevent it from catching fire. Weight would be an issue too. Only anorexic PCs can survive the competition, and for wood to be durable it has to be a good size. I think a regular tablet PC with partial wood trim would be sleek and functional at the same time.

Space Invader Hoodies

spaceinvader%20hoodies.jpg

Back in the day, there was an arcade game in every corner store. Space invaders was one of my favorite. That was when arcade games where everyones favorite hang-out joints. Nowadays everybody has an Xbox 360, PS3, PSP,Nitendo Wii, and no time to go to the arcade, that is if they still exist. Anyway, you can once again re-live that 80s experience with these new Space Invader hoodies, available at coolhunter.

This unisex hoodies feature the popular Space Invader graphics, and are available in pink, black and green. Shipping for the exclusive hoodies started on Monday, and is included in the $150 price tag. So stop complaining and order one before they sell out. Make sure you check the sizing chart, because they are a little bit snug.

Respire-Magnetic Asthma Inhaler Case

Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 05:32PM

respire.jpg

Just because its an inhaler case doesn’t mean it has to look geeky, ordinary, and unattractive. Thanks to designer/developer Guy Thornhill, whose Respire inhaler cases feature a sleek and classy look. The magnetic case holds the asthma inhaler securely inside protecting it from dust, debris, fluff and unnecessary wear and tear.

The Respire case gives your inhaler that sophisticated look that other gizmos have, and it’s a discreet way of carrying inhalers. The cases also feel good on your hands, and are compatible with most inhalers. Respire case are designed and manufactured in the U.K.( would this be a sole reason for someone to buy them? Stupid reason, you decide.) The cases are exclusively available on-line at the Respire site.>>>

Recycable Trainer

Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 04:35PM

think.jpg

Do you sometimes wonder where all the old and worn out sneakers/shoes end up after use, in land-fills, because of the adhesive used to make them they cannot be recycled. Well, with everyone going-green this may become a problem of the past. ‘Think’ is a trainer shoe concept that uses mechanical locks instead of adhesives. Each part of the shoe can be removed, and can also be recycled.

To encourage recycling, retailers would offer a take back scheme, where customers would get special discounts on their purchase after returning an old part of the shoe. The shoe would be a self-assembly, and would come with three variants for each part, giving you a choice. Overall the ‘Think’ concept would eliminate sweat shops and child labour, because the shoe is a self assemble.
