People in Need Campaign
Posted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 08:21PMA Dutch charity organisation, ” Cordaid Mensen in Nood (People in Need) has this interesting campaign. It shows people in need posing with what some of us consider important and necessary. The designer handbag which costs 32 pounds is being compared to the price of food for a week: 4 pounds. Sunglasses cost 24 pounds while access to water is 8 pounds, after shave is 35 pounds, and the basics for a new home only cost 6.50 pounds. A pint of beer costs 4.50 pounds while 50 litres of fresh water cost 1.50 pounds. I am not sure what the main purpose of the campaign was, but I was moved by the facts. Anyway appreciate more what you have, because you never know what the next person is lacking. You decide if ‘Swedish fashion photographer Carl Stolz./Mensen in Nood’ went too far with this pictures…..

Luggage for the Fashion Forward...esp Ladies
Posted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 07:41PMLadies, how about luggage that you can customize to match your outfit, style and surroundings. Jibo is a piece of luggage designed by Wu Jiao, the exterior can be changed to match your outfit.
From knitted fabrics, to leather, to texture…..and the list goes on. One thing I hope it does, is change colors. Jibo is also a functional piece, it features compartment boxes inside, for you to arrange and organize your belongings. For short trips where you need everything to be easily accessible, stack your stuff on top in the main unit. Its trolley enabled for portability.
The luggage looks futuristic, might be a concept or in production stage. If available I am not sure when or where. Anyway stay tuned for updates.

iPhone the saga ends.
Posted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 01:00PMDid you know that Steve Job gave each apple employee a 8GB iPhone. Thats approximately $12,091,414 for all the employees including the temporary ones according to the figures on wikipedia. But for the temps, you have to be with the company for atleast a year. Checkout engadget’s iPhone gallery, and the videos below to see everythingiPhone’s unboxing of the iPhone, and see the people spill in as the gates open (above). Some people where slapping fives, and even hugging the store employees, just to walk in and pay atleast $499. I would say Apple got it made.

Kids friendly Bookstore
Posted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 09:52AMIn Beijing they have the Kids Republic Bookstore which has incorporated playground design elements, like slide inspired book shelves, padded L shaped reading stools and ‘snake-like’ fittings that provide colored reading light. The breaking away from traditional library settings like: ordinary chairs and tables, plain lighting fixtures and the normal book shelves, ensures that kids can enjoy reading as a hobby instead of looking at it as a chore. I hope they also have the place omitting ‘candy odor,’ to replace that ‘book odor’ found in libraries

Oprah does retail
Posted Friday, June 29, 2007 at 03:16PMOprah is a super force and whatever Oprah touches turns to gold. After the wild success of Oprah’s favorite things, and the fact that if Oprah even mentions a product it will be sold out in a matter of seconds— why not make a little money off of that power?
Oprah is set to take the retail world by storm by opening a store so watch out!
Chicago is about to house the 4,500-square-foot Oprah retail store which will be located just across from her television studio. The store will likely have her “favorite things” and other items sold on her online boutique, there will also be a cafe inside filled with all sorts of delicious goodies.
I can’t even imagine how badly vendors will want to sell their products in the Oprah store, it is bound to be insanity. And who knows maybe one day there will be an Oprah store in your neighborhood.
See more of my Oprah Time list at ThisNext.

iPhone, the saga continues....
Posted Friday, June 29, 2007 at 01:06PMThe iPhone will go on sale later today at all the 164 Apple retail stores, and at select AT&T retail stores countrywide. The Apple retail stores will close at 2pm and reopen at 6pm until midnight. Customers can purchase up to two iPhones on a first come first serve basis. I have a feeling that some one will be selling their iPhone on ebay for $1500 after midnight. From Saturday morning, iPhone customers can learn all the capabilities of their newly acquired gadget, at the free in-depth workshop which will be offered at every apple retail store. From 6pm tomorrow you can buy the iPhone at apple’s online store. Free shipping, so avoid the long queues and champ fires outside the retail stores. Check the availability of the iPhone in your area here>>>

Spice Girls Reunion
Posted Friday, June 29, 2007 at 11:55AMYou’ve debated rumors of a Spice Girls’ reunion more hotly—albeit more on the low—than the iPhone, you’ve longed for it against your will, you’ve—
Got to watch the video below. Listen to an eternity of poorly edited girly talk about a world tour, buoyed by silly sentimentalism, instead of Mel B being Frank Spice about how she’s popped out a couple kids and somehow the royalty checks for “Tell Me Wacha Want” have grown thin.
Should anyone actually buy tix to this ish, I’ll be sure the end times are coming.
And then you’ll need to be sure to watch out for that iPhone of yours turning into a snake in your hands.

silent night: sky lanterns keep july 4 quiet
Posted Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 09:34AMThen again, your July 4 could look (and sound!) like this:
Just a spray of glowing paper lanterns floating silently into the night sky, leaving earth-bound you to reflect on the bittersweet blessing of our country’s independence, and to appreciate all that you have. Including a home that isn’t a ground floor apartment in Brooklyn. Unless you’re me. ($9.79 each at SkyLighter)

Posted Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 08:57AM
Turn your kids drawings into wall decals. e-glue has launched a service that makes it possible to reproduce your kids everyday drawings into large wall decals. Dubbed the ‘ArtiKIDS’ the service will make decorating your kids room easier, more personal for the kids, and also unique. Just send by e:mail or postal mail, the original pieces (preferably, outline them with broad points felt-tip pens) and choose the size you want, and a set of two colors. The prices are in pounds.
- 30 x 40cm = 39 pounds
- 70 x 100cm = 89 pounds
- 110 x 160cm = 139 pounds
The wall decals are self adhesive vinyl, and you can choose from a wide range of designs or submit your kids own drawings.

Deals + Steals: La D de Dior Bikini, Half-Off
Posted Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 08:35AMLounging, lying on the beach barely covered in triple triangles—
You’re already more than half way there.
So go 100% nude with Dior’s La D de Dior bikini. You’ll vibe like you’re in a Beyonce-worthy b’day suit, only more boss—ruching at the bust and waist creates key curves, and the light shimmers of the metallic fabric make it so public sunlight highlights your not-so-private parts; you’ll look softly stark, set off by hard, gold D-rings between your chest, at your waist.
Best part? Being less than half-dressed is more than half-off: from $370, La D de Dior bikini is $149 at eLUXURY.
Looks like I found another costume to go Starbucksing in.

Dunlin Bag Half Off at Oak
Posted Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 02:37PMDark and handsome, the Dunlin bag is pure boss: it’s leather washed rough so it softly carries your all in three mini pockets, it conveniently collapses compact when you don’t need so big a body, it’s —
Got a waiting list longer than that Pinkberry the pap hopes a post-prison Paris’ll show at.
Go ahead and do the line. Unlike that froyo—or drinking on stomach empty of anything but Pinkberry and driving—Dunlin’s bag is worth doing time for: it’ll cost you $324, half off its usual $648.
Yeah, I know you could have times two its tag yourself, but I thought “half off” and “Paris” and “Pinkberry” might’ve left you a touch distracted, lover.

SUMMER TOTES
Posted Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 01:00PMLadies I know you will tote a bundle this summer. Here are a few bags I came across. This nike Haute shoe print club bag is ideal for your everyday visit to the club, gym or spa. It spots a fully lined and zippered main compartment, padded carry handles, and the fabric used is 600d polyester and leather. For $80.00 you get a durable, grommet reinforced bag for your stinky gym shoes, and other accessories.

The second tote is Ply Design Signature backpack, which is streamlined for comfort. It features an interior zipper pocket made of Italian leather and layered with fabric to create a flexible hinge which allows the backpack to expand instead of remaining flat when stuffed. Available in: tangerine, ecru, citron, black, and cognac. Let me translated the colors for you respectively: red, black, lime, black and moss. $215.00

If you don’t like any of the bags (above). Try this ‘summer terry beach’ bag from lacoste. It has a 6 inch handle drop, made of cotton and spots a detailed lacoste crocodile logo, or is it an alligator? Whatever, they both look similar to me. The inside lining features a all-print design of the logo, and a small pulse attaches to the bag. It’s available at Macy’s in yellow and Candy cane. $135.00

A 4 port Usb Hub: opens letters & wakes you up
Posted Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 12:43PM
Nowadays anything can be a USB hub, from sushi shaped, to tiki trees, to cup warmers you name it they make it. Here is another one. A 4 port hub USB 2.0 compatible, has a transfer speed of up to 480 Mbps, requires no adapter, opens letters automatically (when the envelop touches the spring slice), it’s USB powered or 3AA batteries, and it’s compatible with windows Me/98/2000/xp, [I don’t know about vista]. The clock features a 12/24 hour mode switch, displays hour, minute, second, month and day. Did I mention that this gadget requires no software? Just plug and play.

More iPhone News
Posted Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 07:41PM
The iPhone is dropping on Friday and a long queue has already started forming outside the Apple store in New York City, and in some AT&T stores country wide. According to electronista, Close AT&T sources have revealed that, the provider will offer a custom plan dubbed the ‘iPlan,’ it would include: unlimited internet access over EDGE, a minimum of 200 or 2000 SMS (whatever is the right number, you get the idea.) and may be even expand to unlimited texting. Price $35-$45. The retail launch is at 6pm, and FedEx stepped up security, and drivers where pre-assigned in teams to prevent theft by outsiders and the drivers themselves. Rumour has it that, even though the iPhone is not yet available for sale, Apple is already in talks with their manufacturing partner in Taiwan for a next generation iPhone. I wonder what they will name it, the “iPhone nano” AT&T has announced their iPhone plan rates: The following is approximately what you might spend for the iPhone including: AT&T activation fee, one month of service, and taxes (taxes may vary state to state, but if you live in NYC this is close Thanks to Core77)
4GB with 450: $648.79
4GB with 900: $672.79
4GB with 1,350: $698.79
8GB with 450: $757.17
8GB with 900: $781.17
8GB with 1,350: $807.17
Here is a couple photos taken outside the Apple store in NYC. On the second picture do you notice “the first two folks waiting outside for the iPhone…keep in mind it’s not released until 29th (3 DAYS!).”
