one good bumblebee's pile of paper
Posted Friday, June 1, 2007 at 10:26AM
As one of the last five or so people on the planet who still occasionally write actual letters, I’m into fun paper. I steal hotel notepads, collect Sanrio stationery, pick up postcards at Venice Beach to send off even though I’m not on vacay. So a dream gift would be One Good Bumblebee’s Pile of Paper. For 25 smackers you get a one-of-a-kind collection of vintage paper stuff, possibly including greeting cards, antique photographs, postage stamps, illustrations, matchbooks, postcards, medical papers, labels, ledgers, diagrams, paper dolls, and maps. And right now, if you buy one Pile of Paper, you’ll get a second one free. The offer’s only on for five days, so fly thee to the Bumblebee fast as you can.

Renato Cipullo Sterling Silver Flower Cuff
Posted Friday, June 1, 2007 at 08:43AMI prance in heels less for femme vanity in my legs and more out of a masculine hunger to stand as tall as possible.
Hate email only wrinkles my brow if it’s a sign of dropping readership—though numbers usually say it’s sign of the opposite.
I get all doe-eyed at Jay-Z’s chorus of “cash, money, hoes;” last Browning asked me “How do I love thee?” I closed her book in high school English class

So if you want to send your K roses, Renato Cipullo’s flower cuff—all carefully constructed in cool silver—is about as flowery as I get.

Juicy Couture Canvas Messanger Bag
Posted Friday, June 1, 2007 at 08:23AM
This vintage inspired messenger bag, is made from leather and metal detail. Guys this bag will make you look like, a low maintenance, care free individual, you might even have the upper hand with the opposite sex. You wish!!!. It features: screen prints lining on the inside of the flap, external back zip pockets, large front slip pocket under flap, and center zip pocket with six card slots. It’s available in black, fatigue, vintage brown, and vintage black. Unless you work for USPS, Fedex, or UPS, $295 for a messenger bag sounds a little high maintenance.

Mushroom Chair
Posted Friday, June 1, 2007 at 06:49AM
If you grew up on Nintendo and Super Mario Bros., you will love this. Much like the magical ones that our friend Mario broke brick blocks for, this little red mushroom chair comfortably seats you in front of the tv or computer.
It also claims to “improve your posture” while you sit. It’s not an extra life or anything, but if that’s true, it beats spending a few hundred on one of those ergonomic chairs.

The Domino Phone
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 09:06PM
This concept phone code named “Domino” from syntes studio in Stockholm, combines old school gaming with cell phone design to tell a story. The combination occurs in-terms of numbering, packaging, materials and naming. Although it’s only relevant to people who had a chance to experience old school gaming, It’s writing history in a way. The phone has been a concept for a while, and I am not sure if / when it will go into production.

Exotic Stroller
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 09:56AM
This stroller by Dan Clements, might be the Rolls Royce Phantom of strollers. Designed with emphasis on easy use and comfortability, it has a unique baby sling on the inside that features a five point harness to hold a newborn to a 12months old baby safely. Instead of regular padding, the use of neoprene gives a less cumbersome design. Should be available for sale soon.

Lacoste Time piece collection
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 07:34AM
With the begining of the Frech Open in Paris, Lacoste is previewing a new collection of time pieces, designed by Christophe Pillet at Colette. I like the color combination. The folks at lacoste have always utilized color green well, from their polos, to sneakers, to sweaters……. via highsnobiety

Pimp Star Performer Watch
Posted Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 12:13AM
Here’s a Pimp watch that mixes technology and fashion into one fine work of stainless steel art. Coming straight from Japan in limited quantities, the sleek Star Performer has an LED display that animates with the touch of a button. The columned numbers flash randomly in different colors before giving you the current time, which you can set in 12-hour or 24-hour mode. And there are four icons, one of which is a martini glass that lights up to let you know when it’s time for a drink.

Vivre Selection Convertible Bag
Posted Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 02:31PM
All heavy beauty and hard brains, Vivre Selection’s convertible bag is wholey boss: that it converts into a classic clutch equals less baggage on your weekend jet-away, while its drawers store your little drawers for a clever carry-on.

Two-in-one without being cheesy, does it vibe too ten to be true, like that Ken doll who quoted Nietzsche—then mentioned menage a trois?
You’re right, I’m sure the bag is really a waste of money, a total scam; don’t buy it, it’d be embarrassing.
I’d rather not bump into you toting yours, too.

moomin valley plates
Posted Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 01:23PM
Even if you’re not familiar with Moomintroll, Moominpappa, Moominmamma, Snorkmaiden, Snufkin, and the other cuddly-cute characters of the Moominvalley children’s book series, it’s hard not to be charmed by Iittala’s line of Moomin-inspired dinnerware and flatware. The Finnish design company pays sweet tribute to author Tove Jansson’s creations with darling pieces such as this Moomin plate, a pretty-pink display of Moomin love that will make you want to snuggle up to your smashed potatoes.

Audiopro Colorful Speakers
Posted Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11:14AMSpeakers have always evolved with time, like the small JBL’s that sound way bigger than they really are. But colorwise, unless you like piano black and white you are out of luck. With Audiopro though, there is some hope. They have unleashed this colorful allroom range Hi-Fi speakers. They will match your ‘skittles candy,’ colorful living room, bedroom, kitchen or even bathroom. “experience the rainbow, or whatever that skittles TV commercial states.”

Nikon 360 Degrees Digital camera
Posted Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 11:47AM
With a cylindrical form lens, the Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera can take all-round pictures. Its equipped with an angle indicator that provides a gauge on the direction of the rotating head, and stability to the camera while in operation. A built-in inclinometer indicates how horizontal a position is prior to taking a picture. The Nikon 360 is designed with much emphasis on the users interface.

Looks like it’s in the concept stage, I am not sure if, and when it will be available to the regular Joe.

Jimmyjane Little Something
Posted Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 08:40AMLiving in La La Land, the curb of civilzation, I’ve come to a very spiritual realization (it was only $0.40 extra with my organic, fair-trade, green, sugar-free vanilla soy latte at Urth Caffe in West Hollywood)—

Value knows its worth, most priceless things have a heavy price, so it follows flying as naturally as birds and bees—
The only way to get sex with substance is to pay for it.
Get to know—in the Biblical sense—Jimmyjane’s Little Something vibrator, a sliver of silver etched with inspiration from carpe diem-era paintings, cored with soul of an everlasting motor.
I may be entering my longest term relationship yet.

ICFF Roundup, Part 1: The Wall
Posted Monday, May 28, 2007 at 11:09PMWe may not need no education, but a couple of exhibitors at ICFF dropped some much needed knowledge: that your wall can be more than a backdrop. The hand-screened designs by Cavern Home took center stage - their latest, a gorgeously delicate feather print called “Plume”, is available in fossil white or gold (below).
Other scene stealers included (L-R): J. Prichard Design’s meticulously applied porcelain “wall compositions”; Flavor Paper’s scratch n’ sniff wallpaper in Romy and Michelle candy-colored metallics. All insuring that you’ll never have to put another brick in that wall.

Flexible vase
Posted Monday, May 28, 2007 at 01:50PM
This flexible silicone vase from Normann Copenhagen features a floral like design. Designed by Mette Kargo Hvid, who was inspired by folded paper to design the vase code named “Kontur,” it has that classic contemporary look. I am not sure when the vase will be available for sale, but you can keep checking the Normann Copenhagen website for updates.
