Giddyup, Fashionistas!

Posted Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 07:12PM

Fashion designers can get away with nearly anything these days. From knocking off artist David Penfound’s original art to charging $1,500 for a tee. Take a look at the three shirts below - one retails for $22, one for £30, and the last is $1,500.

Discover your Sun Style with Clarins

Posted Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 03:58PM

The sun is shining bright and it’s that time of year to look bronzed and beautiful. We love Clarins for their consistently wonderful beauty products and it comes as no surprise their line of suncare items is a hit.

jamiem's

For the disciplined type who won’t be exposed to the sun’s damaging rays:
Delicious Self-Tanning Cream. Achieve a natural, streak-free glow without setting foot outside.

For the sun goddess, who perhaps overindulged and is now paying the price:
After Sun Moisturizer. This soothing blend will nourish the most scalded of summer skin.

For the semi-responsible beach-dwellers who love the sun, but not wrinkles or skin cancer:
UV Plus SPF 40 Lotion. This oil-free blend is safe for face or body. Gentle on your skin and protective from the sun, Clarins has you covered during those scorchers!

Whatever your sun style may be, be sure to wear SPF whenever possible to avoid damage in years to come. Happy tanning!

who are your tees designed by?

Posted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 02:03PM
California style is all about being comfortable and cool - essentially, jeans and a t-shirt. You’ve seen Posh Spice do it. Of course, she throws in some killer heels and oversized sunglasses - but still, she gets it. As you’ve seen pretty much everywhere - tees are getting an overhaul. Whether it be popular or witty little sayings, cartoons experiencing a revival (think Little Miss Happy), or artwork - tees are once again a conversational piece. Better Bacon tees throw another little twist into the mix - helping people. In particular, the oh-so-cool designs you see on these tees are created by disabled artists. Check out www.betterbacon.com to meet and hear some of the artists’ viewpoints and inspirations.

Fashion Kitty's Summer Face: A Makeup Guide

Memorial Day has just passed, which means … it’s summer baby! Sure, sure the real summer doesn’t officially begin until the end of June but it’s the unofficial start of summer, which meansy you can officially break out the summer cosmetics.

I actually have received the compliment “Wow, your makeup looks so good” with this face of summer makeup (twice … okay it was the same person who said it twice, whatever). So follow this list and you can be a summer hottie too.

attack of the 8GB mimobot

Picture%2014.pngPicture%2015.pngmimomco, maker of everyone’s favorite designer flash drives, and sponsor of our upcoming community mixer on June 6, has been spending some time in the innovation lab recently. The company has just upped the flash drive ante with a set of 8GB drives that deliver all the design-savvy goodness you’ve come to expect—just with more space for storing your vital data. Included in the enhanced collection is Boba Fett (pictured left), from mimoco’s Star Wars series, the classic Domo X mimobot, and the Fu mimobot (pictured right), which is part of mimoco’s artist series and was created by Taiwanese artist Reach. In addition to 8GB versions—which will hold nearly 20,000 photos, 2,000 mp3s, or 2,500 minutes of video—these drives are also all still available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB sizes.

Just fake it: Baking cookies

Posted Friday, May 23, 2008 at 10:07AM
Betty Crocker Cookie Mix, Sugar, 17.5-Ounce Pouches

I really like cookies, no wait, I freaking love cookies. I love cookies so much that I put myself on a one-year ban from them. Yes, I banned myself from cookies. The next cookie I have will be April 11, 2009 (yeah, I know the date). Anyways … just because I can’t eat cookies doesn’t mean I can’t share my cookie secrets with you.

I bake. Well I “fake-bake”. I always use the Betty Crocker’s cookie mix that comes in a bag. Slice and bake cookies taste like they came out of plastic tube. Those plastic tubes are great for eating cookie dough raw (yeah, I do that too) but for tricking people into thinking you spent hours in the kitchen — not so much.

A favorite of mine is Betty Crocker’s sugar cookie mix because you can turn them into pretty much any kind of cookie. I like to crush up pistachios and add dried cherries to the mix when I make cookies, which equals deliciousness! Betty Crocker had a baking mix contest earlier this year and the contestants came up with some delicious recipes … not that I tried them but the do look delicious. Check them out here>>

Siwy: The Hottest Jeans in Hollywood

Posted Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 03:44PM

Seems like every time I turn around there is a new brand of premium denim just begging me to shell out $200-$300 of my hard earned cash all in the name of fashion.  As a self-proclaimed denim junkie I always fall for the hype.  At any given time I have close to 50 pairs of jeans in my closet, most of which are in a heap on the floor (oops).  My current denim infatuation is True Religion, which is odd because I used to hate them. I blame living in L.A. for that denim turn around.

True Religion is still hot in Hollywood but there is another denim act in town that is fighting (and at the moment the winner) for the title of the “Hottest Jeans in Hollywood”.  Those jeans are Siwy.  A favorite brand with celebs like Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Nicole Ritchie and the ThisNext community!  I haven’t tried them out yet but they are becoming more tempting by the second.

Green-ing Your Makeup

Posted Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 03:37PM
I’m known as the “green” person in my circle of friends - I like to recycle, try to buy organic, and am constantly researching and looking for other ways to make my world more eco-friendly. The rest of the world is catching up (finally) and the eco-friendly industry is growing by leaps and bounds. There are more and more options to check out, especially on ThisNext. In particular, Maven organicglamazon is a FutureNaturalist - keeping her eye out for organic and all-natural makeup, skincare, and more that will beautify us, protect our skin, and never harm us (unless you accidentally poke yourself in the eye with that mascara wand). Check out this FutureNatural video for more information about why eco-friendly is the way to go:

What’s your favorite eco-friendly product? Why do you enjoy, believe in, or prefer organic? I want to know so leave a comment, recommend some items, or email me at kristie@thisnext.com.

Gossip Girl Tee Shirts! Who's team are you on?

Gossip Girl tee

Well you know which team I am on …Team Blair all the way.  This shirt from Fred Flare come in two teams; Team Blair and Team Serena and will only cost you a cool $24.  A small price to pay for spreading Gossip Girl love.

This shirt was first recommended by  pandabear18788

Tell her how much you love this recommendation by giving her  a compliment

Read her recommendation here:

Whose team are you on? Do you find yourself indulging in Blair’s mastermind scheming? Or do you prefer Serena’s bad-girl-gone-good appeal? …or maybe you can’t get enough of both! Either way, these shirts are fun. I might end up with the Team Blair one, because after last night’s episode Blair is definitely my new hero.

This morning I snuck off to Barneys in Beverly Hills to preview the Rogan for Target GO collection. The clothes were all about animal print, plaid, short shorts, skinny jeans, oversized tops, and sexy swimwear.

Rogan for Target's Go International

Posted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 02:39PM

I have been having a little Go International fatigue from Target. I mean a lot of the collections are exciting but the last few have to been ho hum to say the least.  However, on May 18th the newest installment of Go International is coming out and boy am I excited.

Rogan will be debuting their collection at Target stores this coming Sunday and by the looks of this short video it is going to sell out fast.  I know I will be scratching at the door Sunday morning because I have to score those leopard print shorts.  What do you all think, are you excited about the new line?

Watch the video on Target’s site>>

Organic Gardening for Newbies

Posted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 05:48AM
Organic Gardening for Newbies Whether you’re spending too much at the pump, getting too few nutrients in your diet, or spending too little time outdoors, there’s never been a better time to wade into the waters of organic gardening. Homegrown vegetables can taste better than almost anything you pick up at the local grocery, and the little fresh air and free time it costs to tend a small garden won’t take away from the savings you’ll find over a season of growing vegetables. Better still, you may even find it fun and relaxing, like most home gardeners do. StraightLine’s Organic Gardening for Newbies list can get you started.

Ask Fashion Kitty about Gossip Girl

Posted Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:08AM

Aside from the always-entertaining high school drama, the best thing about CW’s Gossip Girl is the fashion. If you are just dying to know where to get Blair’s argyle sweater or who designed Serena’s gorgeous leather jacket, then you need to tune in to ThisNext.

Starting today, through May 28, I will be answering your Gossip Girl fashion questions on ThisNext’s special Gossip Girl page. Simply submit a compliment to FashionKitty (that’s me) that includes your question. On May 28, your questions will be answered on ThisNext’s Gossip Girl Fashion page.

BlackBerry Bold

Even the most vocal CrackBerry critics will have a hard time denying the beauty of BlackBerry Bold, a sleek and refined gadget that will win over a few new supporters while supplying longtime adherents with nearly everything they could ever hope for in a smartphone. Elements of style aside, the device comes equipped with a 624-MHz processor and 1GB of storage space, in addition to a microSD/SDHC memory card slot. You’ll need it, as you toggle between a 2MP video camera, GPS functionality, WiFi, and the QWERTY-keyboard email/web browsing features that have always drawn users.
