New York Fashion Week: Michael Kors, Fall Double-Oh-Seven
Posted Friday, February 9, 2007 at 03:30PM“Sportswear has become one of Fall’s buzzwords, and Michael Kors was not only in his element but in top crowd-pleasing form,” writes Nicole Phelps of Vogue’s Style.com. “Working in a palette of soft, flattering -“
Do you mean to say -
”- (read: salable) neutrals, with shots of safety orange and caution yellow, he laid the cashmere on thick,” writes Nicole.
That’s my boy. All almost understated luxe, like this Michael Kors cocoa-colored croco diamond watch, which is a shiny shiny -
“Brown crocodile cuff band,” describes ThisNexter Princess, “23-karat yellow gold-plated stainless steel case with pavé diamond trim,” ready to rock right with -
“A knit dress shaded from cream to chestnut. An oversize face-framing cowl-neck pullover peaked out from beneath a Donegal tweed swing coat,” writes Nicole. “And other sweaters, with plunging V-necks and deep keyholes, made an erogenous zone of the back.”
“The only thing he loves more than four-ply, of course, is fur,” writes Nicole.
Michael and I share a passion for glammy dead animals. And blah blah, Mr. Kors bringing sportswear back, blah.
Blah.
Your K wants to hear the stuff of courting free press via PETA love, how -
“Here, Kors pulled out all the stops,” writes Nicole.”[Fur] trimmed trenches and anoraks, even a stand-away-collar sheath. And—talk about luxe—he used truffle broadtail for a swing dress and coffee mink for a shift.”
Ooh la love. Truffle broadtail and coffee mink and creamy lynx, oh my. It all sounds so mignon, you’re making your K weak with hunger, though -
“Should the absolutely mammoth fox chubby in royal blue have suffocated the tiny model who wore it,” writes Nicole, “any number of his front-row fans would’ve swooped in to pick it up—no second thought for the girl.”
I’m sorry, love. All I heard was “absolutely mammoth fox chubby.” But your K wants to know about very little black sequined and feathered dresses, the gold, tasseled neo flapper frocks, about how -
“For evening, there was this season’s requisite fringe dress and an even shorter cocktail number in an oversize gold-and-brown sequin check, a riff on the collection’s glen plaid suiting,” writes Nicole. “His signature long jersey dresses, meanwhile, were embroidered with clear crystals. Sexy, but they didn’t have the unleashed exuberance of his day looks.”
Like this shiny shiny Michael Kors collegiate mini chain? Last season’s evening bling is this spring’s subtle shine with your little white dress and brown over-the-knee boots, and -
“This insouciant little chainmail purse reminds me of the Lais of Marie de France,” says ThisNexter LuxLotus, “an early set of narrative poems extolling the virtues of courtly love from a feminine perspective.”
And here I was just thinking how haute it’d rock with chocolate mink coat.
