Ooh La Love: Black is the New Black

It plays well with everything, it slims, it rocks right from power lunches to peach martinis…
It makes five-inch heels look tasteful.
Love black.
Black is your friend you always want to take to cocktail parties, it adds easy gloss.
Imagine these United Nude “Porn” sandals in gold.
So I’d still rock them.
But they’d wear like overblown bling, versus subtle and smart, keeping eyes on a “fascinating construction that can go poshy or jeansy,” says our Alyson. “Worth every (inflated Euro) penny.”
Same for Ms. Jenny London’s black beaded flapper dress - it looks luxe as black beads on black chiffon gives the frock a subtly rich texture. And that its neckline is cut as low and its skirt is cut as high as possible within ladylike limits only fans my lusting for the dress.
Leave it to the house responsible for the little black dress to work a formerly goth staple into designer neccessity. Going for $100’s on eBay is Chanel black satin nail polish.”It’s not priceless, but it is, apparenly, worth its weight in gold,” notes Alyson.
And while black is back, more than trendy, black is timeless, like loafers by Barker Black for gentleman. Says menswear designer Andrew Buckler, “Handmade shoes and ties from Barker Black… Beautiful.”
Black keeps these very fall 06 Dolce Vita black kid suede boots kicky and metro, versus quirky and overly retro.. “These boots are soft, sexy, and have a bit of an 80’s edge, which always attracts me,” says Second Coming. “Fits like a second skin, makes me feel like some sort of sexy forest animal.”
So Kyute Plus Rad is right with you about that sexy forest animal bit.
“Ssssssss,” hisses So Kyute Plus Rad at this
Nixon all black “Banks” watch “Mama mia!”
Here’s how “Mamma mia” translates into French: an Yves Saint Laurent black leather bow handbag, which makes black tie cheeky-chic with an overblown bow. Jewelry designer Alex Woo digs it more for its size than shade, though: ” I need an oversized bag, I have too many things to carry.”
James Dean made have made a white T an American staple, but I’m with Martin Bosworth, who picked this Banana Republic black T-shirt: ” These never go out of style, so I buy ‘em in bulk.”
On the other end of iconic American chic is Audrey Hepburn a la Breakfast at Tiffany’s. All LBDs, big black glasses, break out some black satin opera gloves, which would look great rocked with a 3/4’s sleeved blazer and jeans. Says Helen Aliu, “I can’t get enough of elegance, and what better way to express it than with a classic pair of black satin opera gloves for a memorable night out.”
Including homecoming dance, if you’re a non-legal lady. Leith from You Know You Love It could top the dress to your right with scrunched down opera gloves. “I really love this dress. I love the hair too. What is my obsession with hair lately? Anywho, the only thing wrong with this dress is that it only comes in size two. Which really isn’t so sad. Get off your butt and go exercise. I have a bit of a fat ass and I can still fit into size 2 dresses. And, OH EM GEE! Eva Mendes wore it.”
I was more going to bust out an “Ooh la love,” but “OH EM GEE” works too.
