Ooh La Love: Get Your Sweater Dress On

The moment I’m brushed by a 60° breeze I’m ready to walk some of my favorite pets: gray Mongolian lamb, chocolate mink…
But I’m always up to rock a good frock, so I’m digging the sweater dress’s revival as an It girl hit.
A turtleneck sweater dress is timeless, and carries cache in cashmere. “Mmm, a cashmere sweater dress… If you’re just going to buy one, this is it,” says WNH.
But if you’re going to buy one-plus, consider going street chic with this Norma Kamali for Everlast empire hooded jacket. Sure, you could sport it with jeans or - the god and plastic surgeons responsible for Stephanie Seymour’s body forbid - with a pair of leggings, but I vote for a textured tights and slouchy boots. “Loving this oversized look - perfect for the sweaterdress effect,” agrees WNH. “And heavy on the street style, and way better than borrowing your boyfriend’s or bro’s hoodie.”
The same may be said for this LaRok hooded sweater dress. “Oh, you just know you want to have Sunday brunch in this thing. A hot cup of tea, yummy food, good conversation… Maybe a Bloody Mary,” says Miss Hoax, and maybe a lacy tank peeping out of the deep scoop neckline, says Kristopher.
Me neither, unless you count jogging city blocks in five-inch platforms.
So let’s rock Anthropologie’s cableknit sweater dress. Luxe-ly thick and ultra textured, pair it with sleeky skyscraper boots or platform pumps. “I love the roomy kimono-ish feel to this sweater… Cozy, but utterly high design for that gallery opening or what not,” says WNH. A Rachel Pally banded bubble sweater dress has a completely different look, but same vibe: casually glam, the high design is in the details, in the blooming skirt and banded hem, the armband cuffs. It’s “cozy, stylish, and affordable” -
Which is also as Saltimbanca describes this Topin Gray berry Ashley sweater. Really a crying to be a dress - I heard this Alice & Olivia colorblock cashmere sweater and this Free People cashmere tunic sweater making the same demand - junk the jeans, lose the leggings. Instead, slip on a slip, thick knit tights, and fur-trimmed boots. Follow the same formula for this black v-neck tunic sweater - “silk and cashmere equals heaven,” says Tanichka - , and this Anthropologie emerald green tunic - “There is something about this this tunic/sweater that just makes it the most perfect item of clothing,” says Miss Hoax.
Totally, and I get the same fuzzy feel-good vibe of perfection from this Sunner belted sweater dress. “Definitely cozy and warm,” says Dena of Splendora. “This one is a bit daring with bare legs. Try it with jeans or leggings.”
Or just five-inch heels.
