Ooh La Love: Spring 2007 Dior Haute Couture

Posted Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11:22AM

“I’m sure you all have gorged yourselves on the Dior Haute Couture shots by this time,” says Fashionologie.

Actually, doll, I’m indulging in a sea of ThisNexters’ picks, like this Lady Dior dangling necklace that spells out “Dior.”  All cheeky chic, so mignon as a Valentine for your fav conspicuous consumer, it’ll let you  -

“Show your ‘Lady Dior’ side with this gorgeous dangling necklace,” says Rose, of John_and_Rose

So you want one, love? Tell your John, or maybe buy it yourself.  I -

“I don’t blame you, I couldn’t wait either,” says Fashionologie.

To gift yourself that necklace, love? Or for -

“The triumvirate of Galliano on gowns, Pat McGrath on makeup, and Stephen Jones on headwear definitely ruled the runways with an iron fist — and I mean that in the most complimentary way of course — what a spectacle it was,” says Fashionologie.

Indeed, doll. I’d say -

“Although I do have to say I have my distinct favorites — some of the Japanese reference was just too overblown in a lot of the dresses, so the dresses that caught my eye were more subdued.”

Your K’s all about beaded cocktail dresses, platform peep toes and smoked out eyes while coffee shop’ing, but I dig you. So go on, gorgeous.

“Morgane Dubled in a layered garnet dress (she looked like she could have been in a very posh Tim Burton movie),  Jacquetta Wheeler in a cream tulle confection (both below), and of course Shalom Harlow looked exquisite as the bride,” says Fashionologie.  “I really have no words to convey the beauty these three dresses illustrate for me — and the idea of folding fabric like origami into a dress is just out of this world.  You’ll understand my ecstasy when you see the dresses in high quality:  Morgane, Jacquetta, Shalom 1, Shalom 2.”

“Reports from Paris are over the moon about John Galliano’s latest couture collection for Christian Dior,” seconds Cusp. “Style.com called the Eastern-inspired extravaganza “miraculous” and “extraordinary” and just looking at these photographs give you an idea of how stunning the pieces truly are. Galliano said he was inspired by M. Butterfly, and his exquisitely constructed outfits would certainly befit any opera.”

Galliano’s gorgeous gowns are way more than mignon, but - though rocking fur in Los Angeles’ ridiculously glammy weather says otherwise - I practice practibility, so I almost think  I’d prefer real world chic like this Dior cotton trench coat  and cannage drawstring bag to runway couture. And while the coat’s way wearable, it’s -

“Channeling Burberry, this Dior trench lets you make a statement that’s different,” says Hope Robertson, “and the bag allows you easy access during those rainy day errands.”

Though that neon pink suit might rock just as easy.
