At this point in our early web career, it might actually be possible to furnish your entire abode based on recommendations from ThisNext.  Looking for fabulous finds for your home?  The design, contemporary design, traditional design, interior design, home decor, and furniture tags are growing by the minute - already we have a combined total of 5,876 picked items in these tag categories and 556 hand-picked lists created by savvy users who focus on the above subjects.

What a great resource we ThisNexters have developed!

A popular and intriguing sub-category is chairs.  And, as I love a good chair (the possibilities are endless, aren’t they?), here are some of the most popular and unique picks from ThisNext.

The classic Egg Chair by Fritz Hansen is currently one of the most popular chair picked by our users. While interior designer and Elements of Living Editorial Director Kira Gould playfully states that “This cozy ovoid chair makes me think of a very stylish Dr. Evil” another Elements of Living designer Vicente Wolf says “it has such a great connection with nature.”confuseddirection.jpg

The Confused Directon chair is a newcomer to the design world, and has been creating quite a buzz among industry experts and buyers alike.  Politicalpoet seems to sum up it’s unique design best, ” It is like a papasan, but with a fun, art deco/clean and classy feel.”

Los Angeles design store J.F. Chen is an enthusiastic favorite to shop for furniture.  Interior Designer Kelly Wearstler says J.F. Chen is one of her favorite places to shop in Los Angeles and “they have insane taste and have wide range of furnishings, from Victorian to modern.”

You’ve probably seen it in 1000 magazines - or own - the 20th Centrury modernist classic Barcelona Chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.  Type in “barcelona chair” and it’s popping up all over ThisNext as well.  loft3 says Rohe’s chair is “equally comfortable as part of a larger scheme or as the centerpiece of any room. The Barcelona chair (sometimes called the Pavilion chair) is an absolute must.” (P.S. check out Loft3’s great interview with Jean from Notcot here on our blog).

barcelonachair.jpgJewelry designer Claudia Endler has added the Barcelona Chair to her fab list Lovlies I Love calling the chair “as significant today as it was then.” And yet another jewelry designer - Cheena Chandra - who loves the classic design makes the greatest selling point of all - it is “actually very comfortable.”

For the office, naturally Herman Miller is a ThisNext favorite. Or, if it’s over-stuffed you want, check out Anthropologie’s green tufted leather chair, the Groundworks line by Lee Jofa or classic designs by Barclay Butera.

And last but not least, a post about chairs wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the Grand Daddys of all chairs - Charles and Ray Eames.  A particular (glowing) favorite is the 50th Anniversary Edition Eames Lounge Chair. This chair is particularly fabulous because it supports the Eames Foundation.  Betond it’s beautiful, timeless and nostalgic design, our own Brad Munson loves the chair because “it iseamesloungechair.jpg beautiful to look at, IMPOSSIBLY comfortable” while user ssomerville says  “its, quite simply, stunning.”
