silent night: sky lanterns keep july 4 quiet

It’s that time of year again: you’re jolted awake in the middle of the night by multiple violent explosions, possibly taking place right outside your bedroom window, and you know it must be either July 4, or the four horsemen of the apocalypse descending with thunder and the beasts of the earth and all that jazz. Or a normal night in Brooklyn, if you’re me. But you’re not! Lucky you.
Then again, your July 4 could look (and sound!) like this:
Just a spray of glowing paper lanterns floating silently into the night sky, leaving earth-bound you to reflect on the bittersweet blessing of our country’s independence, and to appreciate all that you have. Including a home that isn’t a ground floor apartment in Brooklyn. Unless you’re me. ($9.79 each at SkyLighter)
