Posted Friday, January 19, 2007 at 09:42AMStephanie Lucianovic at Chow Magazine’s blog The Grinder, by way of confessing to actually watching Rachael Ray’s new talk show, stumbled across something that captured her interest: The Cupcake Courier. This Tupper-esque tote handily helps you hoist three dozen petits gâteaux to their final destination, safe and sound and unsquooshed.
As it turns out, ThisNexters had the scoop on this crafty container, posted first by Mmmonica nearly three months ago, and seconded by three others since. Get with the program, Ray Ray!
Who needs to cart 36 cupcakes around, you ask? Quite possibly, you. Garrett of Vanilla Garlic and Cheryl of Cupcake Bakeshop have issued a cupcake challenge, beseeching bakers everywhere to put their best cake forward this month. What flavors will you dream up? Plain old vanilla and chocolate? Exotic chocolate chai spice? Bizarre bacon and avocado? Wait, that’s Top Chef.
Whatever you choose, it’s probably like pancakes — the first few just don’t turn out right. So here’s a handy tool that lets you easily foist off the first few dozen of your seconds onto officemates and other unsuspecting guinea pigs. (Of course, if you want to mete your little creations out more sparingly, we could maybe recommend a single-serving cupcake container.)
We here at ThisNext know our way around a cupcake or two. We have exulted exquisite confections in New York, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Toronto and even Raleigh, North Carolina. Raleigh, we have. We’ve spotted books with recipes for them, various cooking vessels in which to cook them, many adorable dishes upon which to serve them and even clever and cute ways to wear them. A couple of die-hards even have entire lists dedicated to them.
So the question is not, why do I need a three-dozen cupcake carrier? More likely, it’s, how did I live without one this long?
