The sodium-packed, sugar-free sports drink

If you’re working out for more than an hour, you need to get 500 to 700 mg of sodium for every liter of water you consume, according to the American College of Sports Medicine. But most sports drinks offer about a third less sodium - plus lots of sugar. To get your 700 mg of sodium and zero sugar, ThisNexters micradot, John Stamstad, Gordon, and Alyson recommend dropping a nuun hydration tablet into your water bottle. Micradot, for one, loves the product’s simplicity: “I can fill my bottles at the start of a ride and reload them wherever I end up,” he says. “Tastes are mild and way better than the sugary drinks you’re usually forced to drink/buy and it doesn’t upset my stomach.” The easy-on-the-tummy effect is also key for Gordon, who notes that those who use nuun “don’t have to swill quite so much after you enduro sweat-a-thons. I hate having water slosh around my belly.”

Your post is likely the only time anyone will ever use my name in the same sentence as enduro-god john stamstad's but not be making fun of me. Awesome.

There is this drink called Zym on the market that tastes good, I tried Nuun and didn't care for it much. Zym has little sugar but it tastes reallly good. You should check it out: gozym.com

I first tried nuun when I was sick with flu, it made getting fluids in much easier. Now I use it for trail runs and I love the simplicity, it goes in my fuelbelt and I can stop and fill my bottles at the trail heads and it helps me stay on top of my hydration without the calories. And I LUV the Berry flavor.
I checked out Zym on Brandon's request but it's got aspartame in it, anything that requires a warning on it is not something I feel like drinking!

happy hols!

nuun is great! It’s effective, simple to use, and comes in a convenient – take it with you – waterproof tube. I’m a multisport athlete who has been using nuun for 3 years. Before discovering nuun, I used to drink plain water because all the energy drinks - loaded with sugars – I tried upset my stomach. As a result, keeping my electrolytes balanced during exercise was always a challenge. Now that I found nuun that has now sugars, I never get an upset stomach and simply drop a tablet/water bottle and go. It even tastes great so I end up drinking more which is always a good thing. Give it a try!
Please note that I am now (though I wasn't when I first used it) a nuun sponsored adventure racer so you'll have to make up your own mind about this product. But, since I use it all the time in some of the most demanding endurance conditions in the world, you might find my feedback helpful

I would recommend anyone working out for more than an hour to try more natural sports drinks, such as milk — yes, milk. This white rich liquid produced by our fellow mammals is actually the most healthy sports drink they could ever benefit from. Nobody thinks of milk as an energy or sports drinks, when it can naturally replenish your body with electrolytes and carbohydrates lost during intense workouts, and the best thing is that it doesn’t have any chemicals nor high fructose corn syrup sweeteners. Unfortunately, it’s just not as ‘cool’ and those advertised gatorade bottles. Milk is perceived as boring and fattening — funny, since it’s the complete opposite. Drink milk!
