Ever check out that pinky bling that Oprah is always sporting? It’s not Oprah’s pimp hand (no, no) it’s an eternity band made from a pair of diamond earrings; who knew that ring would create such an inspiration for the ah-so-famous Ah Ring. ThisNext interviews the creator/ designer, Ruta Fox, of the Ah Ring (which Mama O also owns). What exactly is the Ah Ring? The Ah Ring is for confident single women who want to show the world they’re available (A) and happy (h). TN: When and why did you come up with the Ah ring?
RF: I created The Ah Ring in 2001, because I figured there were rings for married women and engaged women, but there was no ring especially for single women! So, Ah stands for available and happy, and you wear it on your pinkie.

TN: How single are you?
RF: I’m available and happy, of course!

TN: How did the big O find you?
RF: My psychic in Los Angeles, Beatrice Marot, knew someone at O magazine. I had been selling rings to my girlfriends by going to their offices. She suggested I visit her friend at the magazine, so I did, sold some Ah Rings there in the office, and the next thing I knew they sent my presentation to Oprah. She loved the idea, and picked it for her O List, and the rest is history.

TN: Did she help make your product bigger?
RF: Yes, it was a complete smash, I got thousands of orders and they still keep coming.

TN: If you were a piece of jewelry, you’d be a ________.
RF: My Ah Ring. Simple, real, classic, and sparkly. Goes with everything, day to night.

TN: Your favorite jewelry designer in the last year?
RF: I love that Tory Burch lion cuff bracelet.

TN: Most prized possession?
RF: My health.

TN: A product love secret you’re too embarrassed to share?
RF: The Swiffer is genius in the household department, but the Yves Saint Laurent foundation with the brush included is great, too.

TN: What’s hiding under your bed?
RF: Nothing right now, I’m moving.

TN: Fav trend for spring?
RF: Eyelet.

TN: Least fav trend for spring?
RF: Ugly dresses.

TN: What are you wearing right now?
RF: I love my sheer white puff sleeve polka dot top and ballet flats.

TN: What are you living in this summer?
RF: Mini khaki skirt instead of shorts, and shell-embellished sandals.

TN: Platinum or gold?
RF: White gold.

TN: City or suburbs?
RF: I really like both, for balance. I’m a Libra.

TN: Loft or the perfect house with the white picket fence?
RF: See above.

TN: Flip-flops or sneakers?
RF: Flip flops.

TN: Coffee or tea?
RF: Decaf either way.
