David Lynch wrote his new film, INLAND EMPIRE, scene by scene while he was shooting, not sure how it would end until it ended. It’s three hours of the most audaciously creative filmmaking you’ll ever see and ThisNext is honored to celebrate its January nationwide release. The INLAND EMPIRE Web site has release dates.

This week’s prize, assembled by the dancing dwarf from Twin Peaks, contains:

1. The first INLAND EMPIRE poster ever made available to the public.
2. A signed Eraserhead deluxe DVD.
3. A Dumbland deluxe DVD: You’ve never seen cartoons quite like these.
4. A David Lynch T-shirt.
5. The Short Films of David Lynch: This DVD = weird x 6.

The correct tools, as any good carpenter will tell you, are vital.

For me, it's coffee, yellow legal pads and a Sharpie Espresso medium point. (While a handful of dark chocolate M&Ms doesn't insure creativity, it is a vast improvement over, er, no dark chocolate M&Ms.)

I love you, David Lynch.

Peace.

What I do is called ChestChanneling.

I stand in front of a large mirror and get myself a black marker. Next I'll say some kind of jibberish or quote or slogan. Next I will start to draw on my chest with that black marker. The Cat watches.

It's not morse code on my chest, it's abstract art! Then I'll take whatever idea I get from that ChestArt to CREATE. I'll get to work in the backyard or in the garage, I'll make a birdhouse hotel maybe, or take a picture of my ceiling and EXAMINE it.

Next comes the cleansing. I'll soap up and rub off the ChestArt. Blackened Soap Bubbles = More Creative ideas, more abstract art.

ChestChanneling.

What really inspires my creativity are feelings, and my feelings catalyst is a cold day and a naked tree, showing extreme poberty and richness and somehow ugly beauty.
What inspires me to write, to draw, to paint, or to photograph are contradictions. Contradictions found in music, in real life or in my imagination.

Contradictions give us something to think about. Thinking makes our brain work, and the same work generates ideas and with a little bit of talent...you create master pieces.

Love.

what inspires me most is riding along the subway, watching faces...eyes interlocking with each other being indifferent and thinking what the other person thinks at the time and the silence and smells of the subway define creativity in me.

It´s the people around that inspire me to create.

I find inspiration in music and scenery. I see a lot of poverty in downtown L.A., and what I see inspires me to write and photograph.

Hello. A catalyst for stirring creativity within me involves two things: tranquility and water. I like to escape to a land that is conducive to deep thought as well as a providing a sensation that will enable me to "empty" all cares and concerns from my being. Thus, I am providing the URL revealing the secret to my creativity. It is a common ensemble that has inspired many great ideas and does so regularly.

Yes, the aforementioned ensemble is my toilet and my shower. And I am quite serious, my lovelies.

Thank you, Mr Lynch, for your brilliance. The world would not be the same without you.
