Those of you that are parents know that as soon as you start vacuuming, your kids are more than willing to help, either with their little kiddie Vacuum or even the one you are using. Kristina Anderson, a graduate of Lundus University School of Design has a solution. Back in October last year, she designed this rideable vacuum cleaner concept for her thesis project for Philips. I’m not sure if it went / will go into production. Ideal for little for parents with little ones, they can ride on it as you vacuum, and as they grow they can use it themselves.

iRobotRoombaVacuumCleaning.jpgI’m all down with a good spring cleaning, but when it comes to the day-to-day, I am one lazy, lazy man. I mean, it seems to me that, having grown up on a steady diet of futuristic sitcoms, that we were sold a bill of goods that technology would make our lives easier: Computers would do our jobs and robots would clean our houses, leaving us idle to pursue life’s hedonistic joys.

That’s not really how things worked out. If anything, it feels like computers create more work for us, and I have yet to see an apron-clad metallic domestic grace the halls of my home.

That’s not to say that I couldn’t have a robot to help around the house. While it doesn’t resemble the Jetsons’ Rosie, the iRobot Roomba also doesn’t require servant quarters of its own. And though it lacks Rosie’s matronly warmth, it still manages to inspire no small amount of love from many who own one. “Like my Tivo,” says Deborah Gray, “you’d have to pry it from my cold, dead hands to get it away from me.” I’m not sure the living things in my home get that kind of adulation.
