Alfa Romeo 8C Spider

This year at the Geneva’s 78th International Car Show, Alfa Romeo will be unveilling their latest charm, the  Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. The Spider is by far the most beautiful car from Alfa Romeo. It features a 8 cylinder 4.7 litre engine that unleashes 450HP, 6 speed robotic gear box, and it can reach 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.

The 8C Spider is based on the hard-topped 8C Competizione but with a twin layer fabric roof that disappears at the touch of a button. Expect a higher price tag than the 8C Competizione because the Spider will be limited to 500 cars. With this car I don’t see any reason one would buy a Porsche two seater convertible. (via)

Mercedes Benz CL 65 AMG 40th Anniversary Edition

Posted Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 02:46AM

From the new CLS AMG, to the S 63 AMG, Mercedes Benz has proved to be a leader in the exotic rides industry. “AMG or Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach was founded in 1967 as AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.) by former Mercedes engineers Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in a town near Stuttgart called Großaspach. AMG was then acquired by Mercedes Benz in 1999. “AMG” is an abbreviation that stands for: Hans Werner Aufrecht (A) and Eberhard Melcher (M) who were partners, while Aufrecht’s birthplace of Großaspach (G) supplied the third letter in the company name.”

To mark AMG’s 40th Anniversary, Mercedes Benz has made this “Mercedes Benz CL 65 AMG Anniversary Edition.”  This baby is very ‘Limited,’ only 40 went into production. So despite the price tag of $295,000, they might be already sold-out. The Benz offers the usual AMG upgrades with a 6.0 liter V12 Biturbo engine that pumps out 612hp. The paint job is what’s interesting. The silver like paint is called ‘Alubeam’ and is made of pigment particles that measure 30 to 50 nanometers, which is much smaller than normal metallic paint, and it coats the car more evenly and reflects light more intensively. Audi's A1 Concept

Posted Friday, October 19, 2007 at 07:15AM

The new Audi Metroproject Quattro is designed to compete with BMW’s MINI cooper with it’s sleek, more upscale, and Macho look. It’s features include: a 1.4 liter TSFI engine which unleashes 150HP, and a S-tronic dual clutch gearboox. But a more interesting feature is the 41HP electric motor, located on the rear axle, the motor unleashes about 147lb-ft. of torque when you put your foot down. The A1 is being dubbed a true plug-in hybrid, because the motor is capable of powering the car on it’s own for zero emission. The lithium-ion batteries, which by the way are rechargeable from any power socket, (although they add 70kg to the total weight of the car) allows the A1 to travel up to 100km in electric mode.

According to motor authority, “Audi claims additional technologies such as engine stop/start and brake energy regeneration help reduce fuel consumption by 15%. Despite this, performance is remains relatively decent at 0-100km/h in 7.8s, and a top speed of 201km/h. The concept car uses just 4.9L of premium fuel for every 100km, while CO2 emissions average a low 112 g/km.” The concept also comes with an ‘Audi mobile device,’ which is  used to turn on the vehicle’s heating systems, ideal especially on cold winter mornings, it can open and close the car, start the car, and acts as a navigation system, mobile phone……..continued>>>

Lamborghini’s new Reventon & Mercedes New Technology

Lamborghini has a new “fighter jet” inspired car. With a 6.5 liter V12 engine, the new Lamborghini Reventon can accelerate up to a top speed of over 210mph, Yep! That’s what 650 horsepower can do for you. By the way only 20 Lambos will be made, and all have already been pre-ordered despite the $1,000,000 plus price tag. According to Lamborghini C.E.O, Stephan Winkelmann, The Reventon is named after the bull that killed Felix Guzman in 1943 (Who is Felix Guzman?…who knows, I will find out stay tuned)

Moving on to more cheaper cars (not really), Mercedes S- Class will soon come equipped with a laser system to skim through potholes, and adjust the suspension accordingly. This technology was part of the recently unveiled Mercedes F-700 Concept. Known for their innovative technology, Mercedes also has a foresight on Advanced Accident Control Settings; Like distance control sensors which enable cars to automatically stop in a traffic jam, and start off again at pre-set speeds as traffic picks up. Mercedes future surely looks bright!

Porsche & Jaguar present their new exotic Whips

Personally if I was to buy (afford) a sports car, I would get a Lambo or a Ferrari. There is no way I would get a Porsche. I think Porsches are inferior to Lambos and Ferrari, and they should not be put in the same category. That was my stand before I laid eyes on the new Porsche Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1. Arriving in January 2008, the limited edition (only 777 will be produced) black on black is the best looking Porsche ever. It’s features will include: a triple racing stripe, black interior, 19 inch wheels, lower stance, and 295 hp. Also included is a ‘James Bond’ like briefcase, which contains a Porsche design’s flat six chronograph watch, a pocket knife, a pair of sunglasses, a pen, and a key ring (via)

The debut of the Jaguar C-XF concept at the Detroit Auto Show, inspired/paved way for the production of another Jaguar, the XF. This car might be jaguar’s last chance to prove it’s existence as a luxury brand. The XF has the same detailed bumper and cat eyes present in Jaguar’s line up, the back some will argue it looks like a BMW. New features include signature air vents, and the Drive selector (it raises when you want to select the drive, and disappears when not in use). The XF will be released in four models: a 2.7 liter V6 240hp at the entry level, (Europe only) all the way to a 4.2 liter V8 420hp, which jumps from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. (via)

At this year’s Gumball 3000, most pictures that I have seen from the ultimate race, which features exotic rides, beautiful stop pits in Europe, and ‘caliente’ girls, are of rapper/actor Xzibit’s Lamborghini Gallardo, but I came across more pictures of exotic whips, including one of the most expensive sports car: The bugatti veyon.

Designed by Michiel Van den Brink, and his dutch design firm Vandenbrink design, the Vandenbrink 599 GTO has many similarities with the 1960 Ferrari 250 GTO. Actually it will be heading into production, although you might not see it in your neighborhood soon, because only five will be produced. Read more about the 2008 Vanderbrink 599 GTO Here>>>

Move over Maybach, there is a new sheriff in town, meet Brabus Rocket CLS from Mercedes, with a top speed of 227mph, and 0 to 60 “hocus pocus.” under four seconds  This is a one of a kind sedan. Yeah…..it’s a 4 door sedan with 730hp under the hood. Only one problem, it’s a 5-speed automatic transmission, but still worth a fortune $469,400. By the way the Maybach which is also affiliated with Mercedes Benz, has a price of $305,000-$357,000

Wrecked Exotics

Exotic whips are not a common everyday site, now this website has pictures of wrecked exotics. It’s interesting how they wreck just like any other regular car. I guess $20,000 and $300,000 at some point is equal!! You would think for $300,000 you are getting more than the regular, I mean wreck proof, bullet proof, and life-time warranty luxury cars. You saw how easily they wreck, when Actor Eddie Griffin Wrecked a $1 milion dollar Enzo.
