I have been reading on the blogs about the Google Phone for awhile now, and rumour has it that google may be working with a Taiwanese Handset Manufacturer HTC to produce a OS base phone. Google will approve the OS and Applications which will maybe include: Google Maps, Gmail, and even Google Docs onboard. According to other rumours via newlaunches “the phone will supposedly be based on a mobile variant of Linux, and will support Java apps. Also there will be a search browser with pan-and-browse features, something like the one on the iPhone.”

More news for the future…. Even though Simon Daniel-Brown just graduated from college, (Northumbria University) his future is already looking bright. His Coathanger Seating design won the 2007 RSA Wired Award. (RSA stands for Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts). Brown’s design allows people to selectively sit on the structure depending on whether they want interact or not to be disturbed depending on exactly where they sit on the structure. The structure is modular, and is made up of short and long curves, it can be joined, and arranged accordingly to fit various environments. The chrome-plated wire structure is set in an undulating pattern, so it discourages people from sleeping on it, dirt and rain go through leaving it very clean and welcoming.

BMW X6 Concept

Introduced at the recently concluded Frankfurt Auto Show, The BMW X6 Concept CUV is partly based on the X5 design, and it’s being dubbed “a sedan with off-road capabilities.” While BMW is calling it a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). Even though it’s just a concept, you might see one down the street sooner than you thought, that’s because the X6 is on a fast track to production and rumour has it that, it could actually be available mid-next year. Compared to other vehicles in its class, the X6 is sleek and attractive, but cargo space and room in the backseat is compromised.

I have unconfirmed report that the X6 will have a Hybrid sibling, and according to CoolHunting, the Hybrid X6 will feature a two mode hybrid gasoline-electric engine developed with the help of GM and DaimlerChrysler. The engine increases miles per gallon by about 20%, and like many other hybrid vehicles, the X6 will operate using electric or gasoline depending on speed and other factors like the car generating energy from braking. Also another interesting feature new to BWM, is a panel that conceals the exhaust pipe, when the car is operating on electric mode.

Alarm ring

alarm_ring3.jpg

If you hate your typical loud blaring alarm, then hope and pray that this Alarming Ring from designer Meng Fandi is more than just a concept. The charging cradle is where you set what time you want the ring(s) to go off. Just put the ring on the tip of your finger, and when time comes, the ring vibrates until you wake up and put it back on the charging cradle to turn it off. Ideal for couples who wake up at different hours. No more disturbing each other when ones’ alarm goes off. People with impaired hearing can also use it to improve their quality of life.

The Domino Phone

domino.png

This concept phone code named “Domino” from syntes studio in Stockholm, combines old school gaming with cell phone design to tell a story. The combination occurs in-terms of numbering, packaging, materials and naming. Although it’s only relevant to people who had a chance to experience old school gaming, It’s writing history in a way. The phone has been a concept for a while, and I am not sure if / when it will go into production.
