Cool Moms, Cool Picks
Posted Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 05:00AM
There’s a small but wonderful collection of Mommyblogs that are each worth reading for their warmth, humor, and insight…and then there’s a group blog all the women do together that offers the best of their product picks! It’s a ThisNext-like extravaganza of living the dream (in this case, the parenting dream). Girl’s Gone Child is Rebecca’s blog — a Hollywood Mom and former wild child with great story and fashionable picks. IzzyMom is graphic designer Izzy’s playful and funny and occasionally touching life-window, and Nancy’s Mom Ma’am Me is a DC-based momblogger’s literate and almost elegant take on life. Meanwhile, Kristen and Liz, co-founders and editors of Cool Mom Picks, bring in their own sense of style and intelligence for thinking parents in every product they list…like this wonderful line of allergy-related patches, clothes, and stickers from Jeeto. Great, thoughtful people.

Three great energy-saving gadgets for summer
Posted Friday, June 23, 2006 at 12:17AM
Justin Thomas blogs on the pre-eminent green news site, Treehugger and edits Metaefficient.com. In both places, he crystallizes the thisnext concept of aligning what you think, feel, and believe with what you buy, use, and enjoy (and recommend to freinds.) He’s a wellspring of great product choices, including these three seasonal contributions: a cooler that can run on a 12-volt battery and uses just 24 watts…a Pivot Lantern, powered by 20 LEDs that can run for up to 3 days on 3 āDā batteries…and a battery-powered fan — one of the longest-lasting ones available — battery powered fan available that . It runs on 8 “D” sized batteries, lasts 24 hours, and folds flat.:Wait a second: sustainable, appropriate technology at a reasoanble price that also looks great? Amazing…

Uke-Lunches?
Posted Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 02:28AM
Everybody here at thisnext is about making your life your personal work of art — in the things you do, the things you wear, and — of course — the things you carry your lunch around in. Thus: the ultimate in cool and whacky eating accessories, the Lunchbox Ukelele, that cannot only carry your bagel and schmeer but is ALSO a working ukeleles available in a variety of colors and themes (me, I want that Superman one SO bad!) The only drawback: the pricetag puts it WAY out of range of handing it over to your ten-year old…but BOY, will it make a great impression at the office. Found by way of Coolbuzz, a shoping site that’s constantly coming up with great unknown products I long for and can’t possibly afford.
