Spring Training: Session Une

Dream Sequin - Chanel Lumière d’Artifices Eyeshadow

In the first week of March, it’s time for spring double-oh-seven training, ladies.

Bend over long and slow, and stretch yourself long and lean; get your jog on and blush all hot and bothered; and—

Update your pretty face.

“After flipping through numerous magazines I’ve made a list of what’s hot for Spring 2007,” blogs Beauty and Fitness Addict.

Oh? So dish with your K. Is your fav “Proenza Pink” lips, or plain—

“Fuschia lips,” says Beauty and Fitness Addict. “Try a matte fuchsia lip with neutral eyes. Some colors to try are:

  1. Loreal Paris Lipcolor in Sea Fleur
  2. Mac Lipcolor in Impassioned
  3. Milani Lipcolor in Rose Hip
  4. Maybelline Lipcolor in Petal”

And what about Barbie® Loves M·A·C lipstick?  All bubble gum pop of a pink, though your K’s all for fuschia—

“I purchased both the lip stick and the lipglass, [but] I honestly didn’t think I could rock Malibu Barbie pink,” says fashion blogette Fashion Kitty.

But?

“But I can and so can you! Plus the packaging is so cute.”

You’re not too hard on the eyes either, baby face.

BonBons in the Bath

At ThisNext, we love bloggers partly because they offer real life product reviews that cut through the marketing hype, they make products personal and give them context outside of a strip mall, they -

Pimp Tarte’s cheekstain because they “even received a compliment from my pastor this morning on how healthy and happy I looked. (If only he knew my tricks!)”

I’m totally checking that blush now, Ms. BonBons in the Bath (the lady blogger is glowing, check the pic.

Factory Girl

Though we’re all about cutting through marketing hype, we def appreciate a smart marketing.

Which Andy Warhol was all about, and his foundation is all about: there was Paul Frank for Andy Warhol, many metro exhibitions, the coming-soon Factory Girl flick, and now MAC Cosmetics is bumping out a new collection, A Muse, a spin on the 1960’s gamine look, complete with product names referencing Warhol.

Says Beauty Addict Blog:

“A Muse features four Lipsticks ($14 each; maccosmetics.com), from the pale gold Blonde on Blonde to the dusty rose Pink Maribu (my personal favorite is Charm Factor, a peachy coral frost that looks stunning with a bold cat’s eye). Meanwhile, the Lipglasses ($14 each) range from the soft frosty yellow Be-In to the rich bronze Factory Made (Lip 65, a light creamy rose, is the one I keep coming back to), along with two Lip pencils ($12 each) in Subculture and Half-Red (the first is ideal for creating a nude Mod-worthy lip without the harsh powderiness of the era’s authentic products; the second imparts a rich burgundy stain that’s more suited to this fall’s berry craze). The line also offers four new Fluidlines ($14.50 each); for a look that’s straight out of Quadrophenia, apply the shimmery white Frostlite as a base, the charcoal Lithograph to the lashline and crease, and finish with the jet black ZoomLash ($10).”

Beauty Secrets by Nadine Baggott

Thanks to beauty bloggers like Nadine, beauty secrets are not so secret.

And ladies will stop using bronzer as an attempt to recreate Kate Moss’s cheekbones.

Check Beauty Secrets by Nadine Baggott’s top bronzer tips:

- Choose a multi tonal bronzer, not one flat, matt shade.
- Remember bronzer is not a tool to shape and shade your face, so no fake cheekbones.
- Bronzer is a way of mimicking what the sun does to your face. So you apply it where you would tan or glow; forehead, bridge of nose, down the sides of your face, over your cheeks always blending down on to your neck, and even a dab on your chin.
- Opt for a subtle, shimmer bronzer which will illuminate your face, so that it reflects light. This makes bronzer look modern.
- Always add blusher or you will look too flat and orange. A rosy pink or for darker skins red shade on the apple of your cheeks just makes your skin ‘pop’.

Eco Chick

Sheayummy.jpgTo put it simply (pardon the pun): Eco Chick is a group of ladies who live green and do it with style, grace, and good humor. And Kimberly, Ann, Summer, Danielle, Starre, and the other Jennifer always got great products to tell about, like Starre’s latest find: Purely Shea. “This is my new moisturizer,” she says. “I’ve always loved shea butter, but I had never found one that fit all my criteria (fair trade, organic, and unrefined).” That’s Eco Chic for you: living the green dream.
