Vonage USB key

Posted Monday, July 3, 2006 at 03:30AM
vonagevphone.jpgOver at GearLive, they discovered this little USB key that is your Vonage phone on the go, wherever you have high speed internet access. “Its primary features include coming pre-loaded with Vonage Talk software, having a detachable stereo earpiece microphone, offering 250MB of usable portable memory storage and offering a new Vonage phone number. The Vonage V-Phone is plugged into any existing USB port on a PC. After also plugging in the earpiece microphone into the side of V-Phone, one is pretty much ready to use the service. When the drive is removed, all of the information is still on it and not the former host computer.” We know we’re on the move a lot, and imagine you must be too —- and we just can’t afford to sacrifice being tied to a landline or security. The V-Phone is definitely a landmark in the future of VOIP.

The Widget Broker

Posted Friday, June 30, 2006 at 03:00PM
ad52bk.jpgThere are some strange widgets out there… incluing this one i just stumbled upon at The Widget Broker, which says “The brushed finish and unique band set this widget apart. Not to mention the placement of the dials makes it look like a freakin’ alien! Also had a role in the movie “Equilibrium”! “. It kind of resembles a crazy bug-eyed creature of sorts, but also go discover the Tri-pod for the i-pod, and the mini cooper cuckoo clock (yes the mini cooper pops out on the hour, every hour!) at the Widget Broker.

Suction Grater

Posted Friday, June 30, 2006 at 02:52PM
623986.jpgMy Best Gadgets discovers some great gadgets to better your life - like this Stixx Suctionware Cheese Grater… They say “Introducing Stixx Suctionware, a revolutionary line of kitchen products with a unique suction base that sticks to countertops to prevent slipping, sliding or tipping. Contained within the base of all Stixx products is a patented mechanism and suction cup. As the lever is pulled counter clockwise, the suction cup lifts and locks into place, forming a powerful partial-vacuum that bonds the suction base to any flat, non-porous surface. This ensures that the products will be extra safe and secure on a surface so that you don’t have to worry about it accidentally slipping and causing an accident.” This is a great little gadget blog covering everything from your kitchen gadgets to spy cams to headphones with built in mp3 players.

Office Crates

Just discovered this Plug and Play Office design which changes the way your mobile office works - the crate IS the office, and is packed and unpacked and usable in a mere 2 hours! And gorgeously designed minispaces wired and ready to go!

“Design company Bosch & Fjord, a collaboration between the visual artists Rosan Bosch and Rune Fjord Jensen have created a furniture system, for Innovation Lab’s new space at the Copenhagen’s IT University, on the premise of ‘innovation’, that is the ‘plug and play’ answer to furniture design. It enables an organization to refurnish, move to another site or grow and shrink without difficulty.

Premised on the condition of moving, the system considers possibilities for rearranging rooms and combining elements and is intended for an innovative organizational structure in constant change. It consists of big shipping crates that work as modules with different things on the inside, e.g. a workstation, part of a conference room or a kitchen. The crates are designed to fit into any standard building. When the crates are brought into the building from the truck, they are placed in a room and opened. Each function has its own crate with its own explicit identity and design.”

Via Regine’s fabulous We-Make-Money-Not-Art… where she finds you some of the most innovative and bleeding edge implementations of tech and design, many of which are ready for use in the real world, but not all!

Chocolate for UV protection

Posted Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 04:09PM

And here we always thought chocolate was bad for your skin. At Dr. John LaPuma Healthy News, the food-as-medicine specialist reports on a new study finding that cocoa that’s high in flavanols (a type of phytochemical) may help increase the skin’s blood flow, improve its texture, and even protect against UV rays. Always stoked to discover that something we already loved is actually supergood for us, ThisNext will definitely make note of Dr. LaPuma’s recommendations of the high-flavanol chocolate brands Vere and Cocoavia.

In case you run out of cucumbers...

Okay, so maybe you won’t be too eager to slip on the Eyezone Massager while at the office (unless you’re hoping to totally freak out all your coworkers). But the very sci-fi gadget, which we discovered with some help from Uber-Review, aims to provide relief for those suffering from computer eyestrain. Developed using the principles of acupuncture and magnetic therapy, the Eyezone Massager can also help get rid of bags and puffiness.
