Back in January, Oakley deployed a mobile demonstration unit that would travel the country, teaching consumers about their High Definition Optics (HDO) technology. According to Oakley’s president Colin Baden “Oakleys HDO(®) sunglasses provide the best optical clarity, impact resistance and UV protection in the industry. By taking our science to the street, we can reach out to those who might not have an opportunity to learn about the quality and performance of our eyewear.”

Dubbed the Rolling O Lab, the mobile unit consists of a 40 foot freightliner motor coach, fully self contained, and offers live demonstrations of Oakley’s HDO technology and performance across the country at retail locations, spots venues ……Check out their schedule here>> they might be coming to city near you. The interior of the freightliner features flat screens, and couches in the lounge. It also has a fully stocked kitchen. Other utilities include: a skateboard, and a surfboard.

Respire-Magnetic Asthma Inhaler Case

Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 05:32PM

respire.jpg

Just because its an inhaler case doesn’t mean it has to look geeky, ordinary, and unattractive. Thanks to designer/developer Guy Thornhill, whose Respire inhaler cases feature a sleek and classy look. The magnetic case holds the asthma inhaler securely inside protecting it from dust, debris, fluff and unnecessary wear and tear.

The Respire case gives your inhaler that sophisticated look that other gizmos have, and it’s a discreet way of carrying inhalers. The cases also feel good on your hands, and are compatible with most inhalers. Respire case are designed and manufactured in the U.K.( would this be a sole reason for someone to buy them? Stupid reason, you decide.) The cases are exclusively available on-line at the Respire site.>>>

Hug Shirt

hug%20shirt%20b.jpg

An interaction design and wearable technology company, CuteCircuit unveiled a shirt, “Hug Shirt” [back in 2005-2006] that enables you to hug your loved ones no matter where they maybe. The hug shirt features bluetooth technology with sensors and actuators, it then connects to a bluetooth java enabled cell phone with the hug me java software running. when you touch the red areas on your hug shirt, your cell phone receives the sensors data via bluetooth (hug pressure, skin temp, heartbeat rate, time you hug e.t.c.) and then sends it to the other person’s Java enabled cell phone, with the hug me software running, and he/she has to be wearing the hug shirt, to enjoy the hug. Get one for you grandma, and please explain to her what it does or she will go nuts……

Webble foot rest for the anxious ones

webble%20three.bmp

A soft foot rest for anxious people to fumble with under their desks? Sounds like extreme sports, skateboarding or snow boarding  to me! I don’t care how beautiful your desk, and chair look, you will surely look like a dork fumbling with the “webble” foot rest. It lets you concentrate better on your work, by directing the extra energy to your legs instead of the whole body. Really?….

Heartbeat Indicator Mouse

Posted Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 01:04PM

sport-striped-bikini.jpg

With the heartbeat indicator mouse, you can check your e-mail and heart condition at the same time. When the user is using the mouse, the thumb and palm will touch the sensors located inside, and they detect the users heart rate. In some cases it sends the information obtained, to hospitals and caregivers cell phones via PC network. It also tells you how long you’ve worked. “I would recommend it for use in social chat rooms (match.com). The faster your heart beats, the more chemistry there is between you and the person you’re communicating with.”

Designer: Chiu Chi Tat & Tsoi Man Hei. Not sure if the mouse is available for sale or it’s a just a concept. (yankodesign)

BigMaoi.jpgI just read Extreme Craft’s gushing post on the great, insane Amy Sedaris and her upcoming book on entertaining I Like You: Hospitality Under The Influence (Can’t wait! Can’t wait!) which lead me to watch her 2001 appearance on Conan O’Brien in which she shows off her bizarre craft abilities to Martha Stewart. Inspired, I couldn’t’ help but think about the other side of normal…yes, that which is weird – and the odd products we come in contact with every day.

You know, it’s not all just fashion and furniture on ThisNext. Did you see that someone has recommended a penis cozy?

Beyond the amazing surplus of interior design, health, and beauty discoveries on ThisNext.com lay quite a few items that are a little…odd.

And we love it!

You Are What You Buy

garlicpress.jpgCheck out Ganda of Eat, Drink, One Woman’s running series of interviews called You Are What You Eat. Ganda profiles real-world people on what’s in their fridge, where they like to eat out, what their last meal on earth would be … but perhaps most significantly, she asks about a favorite kitchen item. Take, for example, Marysella Castillo’s pick, a Kitchenaid garlic press.

Ganda understands that what you shop for speaks volumes about who you are. We think we sense a kindred spirit here.

Peppergun

peppergun.jpgLock and load, ladies. Like Meg at Megnut, we’ve tried our share of pepper grinders over the years. So we’re very curious about this snazzy device, the Peppergun. The one-handed action come sin convenient when you’ve got one mitt all covered in raw meat or other unsavory goo. It conveniently also comes in white, for coarse salt. Now that’s better living through better products, no doubt about it.

OXO Mango Slicer

This little gem was touted by NPR as “…reliev[ing] one of life’s great frustrations.” Well, we think that may be a bit of hyperbole, but we are pretty excited about the idea of a gadget that simplifies the process of getting at the sweet meat of a ripe mango. (via Food Blog.)

PSP Ad

_sonypspsony_whiteiscoming_ad.jpgHave you heard the news? Sony’s new PSP ads are once again stirring up controversy, this time in the form of racial tension. “The latest in a long line of questionable marketing decisions by Sony, this ad — gracing the streets of Amsterdam and the Dutch PSP site — promotes the upcoming white PSP with the racially charged image of a white woman grabbing a black woman’s face. ” We’re not sure quite what to make of this… but its some juicy gadget news found over on The Gadget Blog.

I Scream, You Scream...

cusinartice50.jpgIt should come as no news to you, but we’re all about what’s cool. And when the mercury rises, nothing is cooler than ice cream. Sure, you could truck to the store and get a pint of Ben & Jerry’s or Haagen Dazs (not that there’s anything wrong with the Haagen Dazs!), but churning your own makes it extra-special. All the way from Paris, David Lebovitz walks us through three great home ice cream makers (all available stateside, of course). Churn it on!

Self-stirring coffee mug

self-stirring-mug-sm.jpgWe don’t know about you, but we cannot do anything before that first cup of joe in the morning. That’s why we love this self-stirring coffee mug. Just touch the button on the handle, and a motor in the bottom whirrs at 3,000 RPM, so you can be sure you don’t end up with a sugary sludge at the bottom of your mug due to languid pre-brew stirring. Thanks to The Green Head for helping make our lives better from the minute we wake up.

kittytar.jpgTo kick off this long weekend, how about this unbelievably flashy Hello Kitty Stratocaster? Even if most readers may not be ready to drop $21,695 on it, that image is priceless enough to put a smile on your face. And if you are wanting it, there were only 3 manufactured! And Engadget has always been great for those mornings you want to browse everything from the latest cellphones coming out in the next year, or the strangest gadget that has come across their emails.
