A Clean Spring

Posted Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 11:08PM

Heavy into April, it’s time to lighten up, dolls:

Clean out your Blackberry of any old boys and girls; for future, you’ll only enter people who bring you profit or pleasure.

Trash Al Green’s romantic cheese on your iTunes; you’ll make more room for Jay-Z’s carpe diem chorus of cash, money, hoes on your playlist.

Evict any lazy grooming product from your vanity (i.e., anything other than black eyeshadow and extra-thick blackest mascara); only invest in beauty booty that plays double duty and hustles hard as you, like SHISEIDO’s Accentuating Color Stick.

One stick’ll slick on a kiss-me pout, swirl and twirl for a blooming blush, two swipes and you’ll highlight your peepers, and spring forward a few minutes —

And you’re pretty in pink, outside sunning, getting double checked by a possible playmate.

Be Easy (on the Eyes)

Posted Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 10:22AM

Because a fresh spring is all about work meets play —

Like p.m. to a.m. fun that burns calories with your boy.

Why those slightly wide eyes?

Your K is talking walking, running, frolicking in Central Park, pretty dirty lady.

Because spring is all about form greets function —

Like what plays hard along with you, keeping up with you during that p.m. to a.m. fun that burns calories with your boy.

Excuse you, doll?

Your K is talking Physicians Formula felt-tip eyeliner.

Its felt marker isn’t just kiddy, kiss-behind-the-gymnasium fun, it’s an easy way to line your peepers into S-E-X-y, adult cat eyes.

‘Cause a smoked-out eye is a fashion must when you’re, hmm, jogging with your honey.

Green Eyed

Posted Friday, March 16, 2007 at 07:15PM

macbarbie.pngThough I know tomorrow’s St. Patty’s Day, why go green only to avoid getting pinched?

Call your K green, but that springs another Q —

Considering how your hautie selection at your a.m. Starbucks is almost as broadly, solidly quality as the chain’s selection of $7 soy lattes, why would you want to avoid getting pinched, period?

Scrap that March madness, and go green-eyed just to have the other ladies follow, a la Springtime Skipper eyeshadow, part of Barbie Loves M·A·C collection.

Best for hazel or chocolate peepers, dust the shadow over your lid for a soft shimmer, or wet a brush and line your eyes to highlight those windows to your sole-loving soul, and —

Go get yourself a Ken as gorgeous.

Nars Multiple Orgasm Set II
Dear Nars,

Sometimes a name really does say it all, doesn’t it? It seems fitting I should pen you this note during the season of love…of indulgence…of beauty…of…………..

You are what you preach, Nars Multiple Orgasm Set II. You flicker and shine and make me flushed with joy. You’re there when I need you most and you never stop working to make me feel better…you’re there in your sexy black case when I’m looking sickly and pale from the Winter blahs, and you slip into my hand so nicely when I’m feeling glam and fab and ready to rock the night.

You’re straight-forward, and you never tease. It’s just perfect hues of peach all day long. Oh, Nars, you make me want to…….

New Year's Beauty

Posted Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 09:37AM

New Year’s Eve is about saying hello to a fresh year of even smarter work and plenty of play, your Eve is about celebrating a year of hustling hard.

So hard that Ms. Judith August and her “Everything Pencil” EraseZit Antiseptic Concealer might make a great date for your New Year’s Eve party.

Let me better articulate, ladies —

Natural beauty, schmatural beauty.

Especially when you’re getting all out dolled up for the last night of your year.

The Mineral Makeup Blog

Posted Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 10:29AM

Dorit Baxter NYC Day Spa’s blog semi-justified my living on soy lattes, and now The Mineral Makeup Blog has me feeling good about daily applying five pounds of black eyeshadow and the rest of my face, so long as it’s mineral:

“I’ve searched the world wide web for something to disclaim the fact that everything about mineral makeup is just a marketing ploy, and nothing substantial.

Here’s an article on Oprah.com that proves otherwise.

Mineral makeup is well appreciated of what’s not in it, rather than what’s in it. “

BonBons in the Bath

At ThisNext, we love bloggers partly because they offer real life product reviews that cut through the marketing hype, they make products personal and give them context outside of a strip mall, they -

Pimp Tarte’s cheekstain because they “even received a compliment from my pastor this morning on how healthy and happy I looked. (If only he knew my tricks!)”

I’m totally checking that blush now, Ms. BonBons in the Bath (the lady blogger is glowing, check the pic.

Ramen Noodles... Or Bottega Bag

Posted Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 04:00PM

Our shopcasting network exists because we’re firm believers that your products reflect your lifestyle, and that the things you buy interact with the rest of your life.

Take Ramen noodles for instance. Anna at SHOP Etc.com wouldn’t be eating them unless she needed “Hogan sandals, because I cannot walk around barefoot, correct? Or I MUST have that woven Bottega bag because I simply cannot carry around my belongings in a plastic bag, right?”

We’re with you.

Read on about Anna’s love for MAC Concealor, which won’t leave you buying Ramen noodles. Unless you want to.

Beauty Secrets by Nadine Baggott

Posted Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 03:30PM

Thanks to beauty bloggers like Nadine, beauty secrets are not so secret.

And ladies will stop using bronzer as an attempt to recreate Kate Moss’s cheekbones.

Check Beauty Secrets by Nadine Baggott’s top bronzer tips:

- Choose a multi tonal bronzer, not one flat, matt shade.
- Remember bronzer is not a tool to shape and shade your face, so no fake cheekbones.
- Bronzer is a way of mimicking what the sun does to your face. So you apply it where you would tan or glow; forehead, bridge of nose, down the sides of your face, over your cheeks always blending down on to your neck, and even a dab on your chin.
- Opt for a subtle, shimmer bronzer which will illuminate your face, so that it reflects light. This makes bronzer look modern.
- Always add blusher or you will look too flat and orange. A rosy pink or for darker skins red shade on the apple of your cheeks just makes your skin ‘pop’.

Expert Eyelashes

Posted Friday, July 14, 2006 at 05:52PM

We’re all about products tailored to your life, that make you happier and your days easier.

Even $250-600 eyelash extensions.

We’ll let fashion blogger Almost Girl explain:

“They last for around 6 weeks and you don’t have to worry about applying mascara that whole time. I feel so much more put together somehow with my new lashes and everyone comments on them.”

Beauty Brains

Posted Monday, July 3, 2006 at 01:35PM

Says beauty blog The Beauty Brains:

“Beauty product reviews are easy to find; but where do you go to learn what’s in these products and how they work?”

Well, till ThisNext’s shopcasting goes public, we vote for smart blogs like The Beauty Brains. They’ll give you the lowdown on Herbal Essence’s brand revamp and what’s really in the recipe of eyelash-curling mascara.

The Supernatural

Posted Monday, July 3, 2006 at 12:13PM

Discovered via beauty blog Girl Paint, the Supernatural is “serves as foundation, concealer, powder and sun protection all in one.”

Thank the Lawd. Now I’ll have an extra five minutes every morning to put on five more pounds of black eyeshadow catch up on CNN.com

Just another product to make your life a little easier and happier.

A Wee Bit Skint

Posted Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 06:39AM

You could hit a department store’s makeup section and walk away with 10 types of eye cosmetics you’ve already forgotten why you bought when you reach your car, you could Google away and get lost in a sea of cosmetics sites, wondering which ones are legit —

Or you could take advantage of ThisNext shopcasting and find real reviews by real people, similar to the way bloggers like A Wee Bit Skint give you the low down:

“i find myself coming back to one certain brand, that being nars, more precisely though, his liquid eyeliner. those that bemoan the use of liquid eyeliner - that it smudges, that you need to have the steadiness of a surgeon to use it, that it looks too severe…. i’m with you. i used to think the exact same things. but, with the right brush and the right angle, anyone can wear the stuff and it lasts the entire day without making you look as if you went to bed with your makeup on the night before.”
