Slim Down
Posted Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 08:34AM
KRiSTOPHER DUKES LLC plastic money, Ms. Dukes’ plastic money. KRiSTOPHER DUKES LLC debit, a girl named Kristopher’s debit. Old press club pass, which I promise I don’t keep ‘cause I’ve waved it, “Freelance, forgot to RSVP,” and skipped hour-long lines before. Health care ID, which I do keep ‘cause health and vanity are happily married in my world of SPF 45 for porcelain skin and jogging to keep twiggy. Add some paper printed by Uncle Sammy, a Cali license to weave in and out of lanes at 50 mph plus, and you begin to understand the filing cabinet that is your K’s choco croco wallet.
Which I’m ready to chuck, for Steinhausen’s sleeky chic Money Grip.
‘Cause life’s much too short not to rock light as possible, to have to fumble with some clumsy thing when you could slip something slim, handsome, and smart in your jeans’ back pocket.
Which reminds me:
Time to lose the boy.

Juicy Couture Money Clip
Posted Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:18AM
After sitting down with your Mr. Numbers to figure how to feed Uncle Sam his yearly four-star dinner on your income —
A side of stock earnings, topped with a pinch of your interest from CDs, with a main course based around your salary, and dessert could be the cream of your mutual fund you had an itch might have better fit your IRA.
— You’re left with some skinny green for spare spending for the next few months, and a reminder to stop using some high-rate plastic money.
So make a meeting with this Juicy Couture silver money clip — when you’re stripped from that mini filing cabinet of a wallet, you’ll be carrying only bare bones.
Maybe really bare bones —
Juicy’ll take $75 for this clip.

Financial Blogs
Posted Monday, June 5, 2006 at 06:24AM
I skated through college earned my English Lit BA in 3.5 years, I’m six months out of my expensive hobby that was a college education and studying postmodernist plays is but a bad dream…
That left me piles of dollars in debt.
So with my grace period about to be up, after Googling “private student loan consolidation,” I realize financial blogs may not be such a bad place to find advice. Sure, I have to dig through tons of http://unbelievablecredit.blog.com’s that are promising to help me GET RICH QUICK or advising me to REFI NOW!!!!!!, but soon enough I find a few financial bloggers that are just what ThisNext is about: smart consumerism, making your life better by making the most of the fruits of your labor.
And by “fruits of your labor,” I’m referring to $$$.
Economic Living offers basic tips about who has high APR’s for savings account, who’s giving away $25-75 bucks for opening an account, and stock broking companies with low fees.
Young Professionals Financial Blog is just that - talk about buying a first home, tips for living more frugally (like switching from a land line to a voice over IP phone plan.)
And one of my favorites is Boston Gal, a 30-something never married home owner chatting about increasing her networth. Worth $300k, she’s aiming for $3 mill through condo investments and the like.
She sounds like a smart girl, maybe I’ll drop her a line about private loan consolidation.
