Shopcaster Shout: DncnQwean is Paper Obsessed

Posted Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 08:17AM

ThisNext shopcaster Courtney D. (aka dncnqwean) has put together a pretty list of paper products called Paper-Obsessed

From limited edition letterpress prints, to calendars, to luxe box sets of gorgeous stationary, Paper-Obsessed is gorgeous shopcasting for anyone who loves to put pen to paper.

I love the Cheree Berry flower notecards, the cardinal gift wrap from Snow & Graham, the Deadly Squire notecards with “the added detail of the wax seal on the packaging” and the limited edition letterpress prints by artist Jen Corace which Courtney thinks “…would make such a great baby gift. They’d look adorable in a nursery or playroom.”

If you’re looking for new notecards, affordable art, or a calendar for 2007 - this is the list for you!

Q&A with Chantel

Posted Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 03:20PM

I’ll quote Chantel’s shopcast so you can understand why I dig Ms. Chantel, of the Life and Times of Chantel:

“I know, I know. I have red hair and I’m not supposed to wear too much pink.

All I’m saying is, Mama wants a pair of these!!”

She understands fashion do’s. And doesn’t.

I like ladies who gracefully disregard rules, so I had to play Q&A with Chantel.

The Glossy

Posted Friday, September 8, 2006 at 12:02PM

00170m.jpgOoh la love. Shopcast waiting to happen, part deux, as brought to you buy THE GLOSSY glossy fashion blog.

Must-Have Accessories…

As requested The Glossy Ed. serves up the Top 10 (or 11). As usual I reserve the right to change the content and order of the Top 10 Accessory List at whim. Use at your own risk!

1. The Red Lip
Totally attainable…the redder the better. Looks best when paired with a pale eye (and small hair). Let the focus fall on the lips. Jessica Stam shows how its done.

2. Leg Up
The legging hasn’t had so much press since 1989. It’s the second time around and yet somehow it’s still best when with an over-sized tunic top and chunky boot or “frugly” shoe. Hopefully not for everyone…the skinny jean does the same job with a little more forgiveness.
3. Booties
The perfect puntuation for your leggings…pick a sexy little number like these DKNY. Best with ruched, ruffly edge. For those on a budget - Topshop has a great version.

Fashionologie

Chloe_velcro Blogs :

“this just makes me laugh

>> Never thought I would see the day that velcro showed up on not orthopedic shoes, but Chloe shoes.  (But then Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava loves her orthopedic shoes, so maybe velcro’s a new designer fascination).”

Ooh la love.  It’s more that chunky heel that’s killing me, but regardless, you’d be safe and happy at ThisNext, Fashionologie: the only Velcro shoes we’ve got in our shopcast network are real deal athletic sneakers.

Though that could change if Chloe slaps a five-inch stiletto on those sandals.

Asks fashion bloggerette Style Bytes:

chloe sevigny three sisters

Where Did They Go?

I was looking through my old photo album when I came across this picture of me and my two youngest sisters. I’m wearing the most Chloe Sevigny-like shades, but where did they go?

I might have to go back home to mom’s house to look through my old stuff once again.”

Or you might have to come to shopcast network ThisNext and discover new stuff. We’ve got piles of other glammy sunglasses; dig these Ralph Lauren Polo Aviator Wrap Sunglasses, which are a fresh take on Chloe’s eyewear,

Kiss and Makeup Black Nail Polish

Posted Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11:36AM

Kiss and Makeup gets what ThisNext shopcasting is about:

“Chanel Black Satin may be the polish of the season…”

Yes.

“But there’s plenty of other polishes that will give you a black fix.”

Yep! Let’s get our this-should-be-a-shopcast on.

“OPI have Black Onyx (Shade NTL02), Essie have a black shade called Licorice (shade 56) and Sephora do black in their own brand polish (shade 12) which costs only $4. If you decide to wear black, keep nails short and neat and please take it off once it’s chipped - chipped black polish is so not a good look.”

Painfree Stilettos at Shoewawa

Posted Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11:15AM

While I’ve never questioned the popularity of Shiny Shiny’s girl blog empire

- They’re like your best e-girl friends, they know your fashion joys and woes, they’re like the Oprah of girl blogs -

This Shoewawa post did clarify some of why they’ve got their readership:

” “Pain-free” and “stiletto heel” aren’t words that normally go together, but rest assured, there is such a thing as an easy-to-wear stiletto, and Cole Haan claims to have created it.
These babies may look like your standard ankle-killers, but they contain Nike air-cushioning in the ball of the feet and the sole, which helps prevent the foot and back pain so often associated with long hours in strappy sandals.”

Yep, they found you painfree stilettos.

So when are they shopcasting those lovelies?

Phoebe Says

Posted Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 03:50PM

Fashion blog Phoebe Says says:

“Frye boots (or ones like them), to me, are a seasonless staple in a girl’s closet. They can easily be paired with jeans, long skirts, short skirts, shorts, and honestly, most types of bottoms. The Austin Cut Out style from Shopbop are splendidly on sale.”

KRiSTOPHER says:

“Someone has splendid taste, and should totally be shopcasting.”

Shoe Blogger Manolo

Infamous shoe blogger Manolo gets what we’re about:

Instead of reviews of “a chunky 3½ platform perfect for fall,” we’re interested in hearing about Kate Spade peep toes that are “guaranteed to make you stand taller and feel better about having to go to the office.”

Soothing Scents

I’m a sucker for any kind of naturally yummy-smelling product - as I write this post, I’ve got about a half-dozen aromatherapy candles burning away in my teeny-tiny apartment. But there’s more to aromatherapy than just sensory pleasure: Those essential oils can produce potent stress-easing effects and help get rid of everything from the common cold to muscle aches and pains.

Likewise, there’s more to aromatherapy products than that which comes in wax-and-wick form. And on ThisNext, a number of aromatically refined shopcasters - including yours truly - are shopcasting about their favorite essential-oil-based finds.

If only ThisNext’s stickers came in the scratch-‘n’-sniff variety.

ThisNext goes green

celltech.jpg

Maybe I’m slightly overeager to try out strange-sounding and potentially gross new health and nutrition products. But after blogging about C Is For Cookie’s post on Active Greens Chocolate Organic Food Bar, I had to run out to my local Whole Foods and experience the algae-containing treat for myself. And while it’s worlds away from a Vosges-Haut Chocolate Black Pearl bar (perhaps the most drool-inducing of all my ThisNext picks), Active Greens wins major points from cramming so much supernutrition goodness into such a small package - while still managing to create an energy bar with a flavor that’s superior to many of those on the health food store shelf.

Turns out I’m not the only shopcaster with a thing for the green stuff, and with good reason: Rich in chlorophyll, greens like wheatgrass, spirulina, and chlorella are said to help protect against cancer, lower cholesterol, enhance immunity, and promote detox. But ThisNext members seem most amped about algae’s energy-boosting powers.

Shopcasting Art: ThisNext Gets Its Gallery On

Posted Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:00PM

gilliancarnegiea.jpgWe might have cracked a serious code here people.  The days of gallery hopping could be all but numbered…why pound the pavement when you can surf ThisNext?

One of the most exciting developments at ThisNext has been the emergence of list after list and pick after pick of beautiful, eclectic artwork; all of which is shopcast by individuals who are simply passionate about the artist.

The web brings exciting opportunities for art collecting in all ranges of medium, theme, and price.  Add to that personalized reflections about artwork and artists by the collectors/aficionados themselves, and you have a virtual social gallery of infinite possibility.

Let’s take a look and see what’s been picked.

Tip Jar

Posted Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 02:42PM

I’ve blogged it before, I’ll blog it again: ThisNext’s shopcast network exists because shopping isn’t just buying and products aren’t just materials, and, as The Tip Jar writes, jewelry isn’t just a bling thing:

“The Ambrosia Collection from jewelry designer Beth Lauren is delicious, beautiful and enticing, just as the name implies. Vibrant clusters of iolite, garnet, smoky quartz and other gems are framed with delicate gold chain. With mouthwatering names like licorice, chili, kaffir, sassafras and radicchio, these earrings and necklaces sound like they belong at your gourmet grocer.”

Fashion Police

Posted Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 02:14PM

More than just rounding up fashion criminals, The Fashion Police is also like your fashion guidance counselor, looking out for you and making sure you don’t just go along with the crowds:

“Best of all, these are only £28 from ASOS, who are recommending they be worn with “fishnet tights and a retro skirt for a fun, quirky look.” Well, yeah, sure, wear ‘em like that as fancy dress if you must, but please, don’t go out in your fishnets in real life, ‘kay? Instead, we’d recommend a classic LBD or pencil skirt, to make the fab shoes the focus of the outfit.”

Ooh la love, I’d adore seeing a shopcast of these shoes’ outfit.

Nudge. Nudge.

Forever Amber

Posted Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 01:06PM

Forever Amber was having a little wedding shoe drama:

“Anyway, Manny is mine. He will be winging his way across the Atlantic any day now. He has cost me $50 just for the shipping…
This, I am ashamed to admit, will be the third pair of shoes I’ve bought for the wedding now, the first (totally unsuitable) pair being panic-bought from eBay minutes after the venue was booked (“I’m getting married! I must buy shoes right now!”), and the second pair being the ill-fated Kurt Geigers. Please, God, let this be an end to it. Let these shoes work out and I promise I will never ask for anything else again.*”

Had she been browsing ThisNext’s shopcast network, maybe she would have found her perfect pair faster.

Or maybe she would have found four or five pairs of shoes instead after seeing all the lovely heels in the site.

Hard to say.

Shopcasting Clean: ThisNext shows you the way

Posted Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 11:35AM

cleanpost.jpgHere’s one thing I thought would never happen…the web inspired me to clean. Let me be more specific…I’ve been browsing (drooling, loving) all the eclectic shopcasts on ThisNext, and there seems to be a distinct theme of useful, affordable, eco-friendly cleaning products recommended whole-heartedly by ThisNext shopcasters.

So what’s been added to my shopping list before Saturday’s chores? By searching some intriguing lists which can be found in the right sidebar of the home & discover pages and browsing the highly addictive tag-cloud I have spotted some really great recommends…

Clearly I have a lot in common with SoCal Mom’s I Hate Housework list, where she’s picked (among other things) the enigmatic Roomba - which I’m dying to get - and of course this century’s MVP in the Clean Dept: the Mr Clean Magic Eraser, which is…simply…magic.

I love Method products (tag: method), I was glad to see a
