win your Wii Fit

Posted Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 06:43PM
I’ll be honest here, I’ve never actually used a Wii Fit. However, we’re giving one away. So, I thought I’d take a deeper look at it. All I did was browse through the Web site for about 5 minutes and I was completely convinced that it’s the coolest/ most revolutionary game ever made. You see, it’s much more than a game. Like the name implies, it keeps you fit.

Sure, it’s got charts and keeps track of your progress, which is really awesome. However, it keeps you fit with things like snowboarding down a mountain, Yoga practice or even soccer. That’s nothing though. So, you should really just check out their sites.

This is one contest you really want to win. Click here for details.

Space Invader Bags

Posted Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 05:22AM
One of the most influential 2D Arcade Video Game ever is the Space Invaders. Released in its native Japan in 1978, and then licensed for production in the U.S. by Midway. The game was designed by Tomohiro Nishikado, and programmed by David Yuh. To mark it’s 30th Anniversary, Taito Corporation, the Japanese Company behind it will be releasing a set of porter bags to mark the milestone.

limited edition Simpsons-themed Xbox 360

simpsons-xbox-360.jpg

Based on the movie, which in fact hasn’t even reach theatres yet, ‘who knows when it will make its debut.’ Anyway Microsoft will be producing a limited edition Simpson themed Xbox 360, to be given away at special events and promotions. But don’t let the looks fool you, instead of using the Elite console Microsoft used the 20GB Xbox 360 Pro. Either way, this console will be a collectors item.

D'oh! Snow? Give Those Dice a Roll, It's Game Day!

Snatch - the word stealing game that makes Scrabble looks wimpy

With the snow piling up higher and higher outside, it’s easy to go a bit mental from cabin fever when you’re trapped inside. Hopefully you’ve stocked up on a good supply of movies, books, hot cocoa, and … board games! But not just any board games, like Monopoly of Scrabble. Oh no, those are boring and will drive you crazy faster than the next weather report. These games go above and beyond the old school stuff, and are more fun than you can shake a stick at. Plus, they’ll help you forget that your house is currently buried under 47 feet of snow, require no electricity, and probably won’t melt at high temperatures. They also probably will stimulate your brain more than a mindless button-mashing video game will, but I’m not promising anything. if you learn something, you’re on your own.

Snatch - this word based game allows you to be extremely sneaky and steal your opponent’s words and use them for your own diabolical needs. It’s a tiny bit like Scrabble, but on steroids, and with a high-speed rocket attached to it. Mix things up as much as you can, and try to steal as many letters and words as possible. As a bonus, it comes in a really spiffy tube that carries the whole game, making it portable and fun, all in one.

Abalone -  No, it’s not a fish — instead it’s a extremely simple, yet very fun game using black and white marbles. Basically, you line up your marbles and use them to “push” your opponent’s marbles off of the playing grid. It’s based on Sumo wrestlers and their movements, but you won’t have to bulk up to play this. It’s also one of those games that you can leave lying around to make you look smart, like a chess set.

Lego Star Wars II

59608-8-2.jpgOooooh. Over at GamerC - they noticed the Lego Star Wars II demo is out for PCs - this was a hilariously amusing game - and i absolutely adored the graphics… (remember that bit with the light up floor tiles and the Disco dancing? … ok so i’m more a designer/artist than a hardcore gamer, but this game is sure to amuse you all). “The surprisingly entertaining Lego Star Wars has a PC demo out for it’s anticipated sequel, Lego Star Wars II. The sequel will allow you to play through the original saga, Episodes 4-6. Expect some killer Han, Chewie, Luke, and Vader action (Oh, I can’t forget Boba Fett.)” via GamerC.

Nintendopoly

nintendo-monolopy.gifIn our age of mashups - Nintendo takes on Monopoly. And i’m right there with Bits & Bytes & Pixels & Sprites when they say “I think it’s the playing pieces that seem the coolest. Donkey Kong’s Barrel, Link’s Iron Boots, Hylian Shield, NES Controller, Mario’s Cap, and Koopa Shell.” [Actually, those would make some pretty sweet necklaces.]

Retro Gaming

xbla-joystick.jpgAre you a Retro Gaming fan with an XBOX 360? Spending far too much time playing Street Fighter 2 and Pac Man lately? Well it certainly isn’t the same as an old school arcade with those fancy new controllers - so apparently the XBOX 360 joystick action is available in the form of this possible wireless MadCatz controller.

With everything from special mini games (like Whac-a-Mole) and special Dragon Festival Masks awarded to some players including some gorgeous imagery of the decorations designed for the celebration. PSP2?

Some days there’s nothing like a good gamer rumor to get people riled up… or bring out the inner pessimist. Over at Play Designs, blogger Amber Loe seems to have found a nugget of info implying the future of the PSP2… and after you check out his little run down - the bottom line seems to be “So, you heard it here first! PSP 2 out in 3 to 1 million years. And if they ARE just rumors… forget I even said anything.” Gotta love their font mix on their banner though.

Mental Excercise or Brain Candy

7--brain-candy-rpsx.jpgWhile we tend to be all about shopcasting - there are moments when one has to step back and wonder what these objects of consumption are really doing for us. In the realm of gaming, stumbled upon this article over at Kotaku (your go to blog for an inundation of all things gaming) - “Video Games - Mental Exercise or Merely Brain Candy?“… while this won’t neccessarily change how or what you buy and play, it will probably help you justify why your excessive gameplay will help you become a smarter person, or just help open your mind to what might be happening inside your head.
