Cooler than your Vespa

What’s pink and silver and green all over? The GreenEmotor, an electric scooter that girlHenry promises will make you the envy of every “tree-hugging, hybrid-driving” kid your neighborhood. “It’s only a matter of time until Cameron, Justin and Leo are seen scooting around town on one of these ‘GEMS,’” she predicts. And for all us non-famous types, the lack of spendiness also makes GreenEmotor highly appealing: Since you get the equivalent of 1,350 miles per gallon, the scooter pays for itself in fuel costs after just a few months.

And then of course there’s the obvious eco-bonus: “With no oil, zero emissions and very reasonable cost,” says girlHenry, “you’ll actually be one step closer to one of those people that actually did do something for the environment.”

The Ducati Kid: One Complicated Scooter-Man

helmetbanner.jpgThe Ducati Kid is a complicated blogger.  Not only does he love his Ducati motorcylce and “seeing the world at 100 miles an hour,” but – believe it or not – he’s a new dad and a lover of … scooters. It’s true: scooters

scooter.gif“The simple fact is that scooters, in the urban environment, are the actual real bikes,” Joe Grant says.  “Motorcycles on the mean streets of Manhattan look and sound good, but try and get a full dresser Hog between cars on a traffic-choked avenue at rush hour and your ankles soon will be blistering from exhaust heat. And sportbikes? Who needs 160 horsepower at the rear wheel when you’re moving ten miles an hour?”  He even has another site, more online mag than blog, about being a NYC Scooterist … but that doesn’t make him any less cool as The Ducati Kid.  He just knows good, any way that works.

Scoot over

Crystal at Girlbike rides a silver 2004 Vespa ET4 named Rosa, whose seat is covered in purrrrty leopard skin - as if Vespas weren’t already covetable enough. She also blogs about everything a scooter-riding lady needs to know, including “gear, accessories, riding technique, safety, negotiating traffic, dealing with intimidation or prejudice in shops or on the road, long-distance riding, and more.” And then there’s her super-valuable “deal alert” posts, where Crystal hips us to bargains on everything from Volatile USA platform shoes to Fieldsheer jackets to - whoa - the Four-Person Steel Quad-Cycle Roadster. We’ll skip the four-person ride and stick to crushing on Rosa, who reveals her lovely self below.
