Before discovering new ThisNext member Nopstar’s just-added list, I’d never heard of Muay Thai. Turns out the martial art, also known as “Thai Boxing” or “Art of the Eight Limbs,” is the national sport of Thailand and had a big influence on the development of kickboxing in the U.S. Instead of just using their fists, fighters also employ their elbows, shins, feet, and knees to strike their opponents.

And in addition to gloves (similar to the style used in American boxing), Muay Thai practitioners and students may want to invest in some of the gear shopcasted in Nopstar’s product picks. Glove Dogs - Boxing Glove Dryer and Deodorizer, for instance, “looks like a gimmick, but if you box these are a must. Keeps your gloves ‘less’ stinky,” says Nopstar. Equally important for de-stinking your stuff is the Hand Wrap Wash Bag. (“If you box and you do your own laundry, you know it’s virtually impossible to get these things separated from your clothes,” Nopstar shopcasts. “A must have.”) For boxing-acquired aches and pains, there’s Muscle Liniment, which works like “Tiger Balm on steroids.” And for everything you always wanted to know about Thai boxing, Nopstar dubs Muay Thai: A Living Legacy “one of the best ‘updated’ books” on the sport.
